Hi again, Saringgola! Sorry for my late reply this time. No prob accompanying you to those places I brought up. Just message me (privately, if needed) when you've firmed up your dates and itinerary. See you next month then! Keep warm there!
Hi Saringgola! Thanks for your note! Good to hear that you're interested in Philippine books. I can accompany you to Popular Bookstore and Ibon Bookstore. These are both in the Timog Avenue-Tomas Morato vicinity of Quezon City that are big on Filipiniana. Popular is near the intersection of Timog and Morato, while Ibon is near the GMA-7 complex. Just email me at jpgrp2002@yahoo.com when you've finalized your schedule. We can then set up a meet-up.How long have you been in Chicago (I'm assuming that's what Chgo means)? Am I right to assume you're a Filipino-American? Are you already working or a student?Ok. I hope to hear from you soon.
Hi, Tito,Thanks for making me aware of this site. Very interesting. Still learning how to navigate. Slowly but surely. Thanks for all the books you've given us. Hope you won't tire of it. :) Happy reading as always!
Yes, she alludes to her family in her shortlisted (or winning?) When Elephants Dance. Carnivore's Inquiry was written a decade before; might have been her 2nd book where the setting is East Coast America (after she migrated). It's really curious and...slyly, ta-dah....... gory! The first one I know of, Slow Burn, was set in good ol' high society Manila during what might have been Imeldific's prime. Brrrrrr..... wala yatang katao-tao 'dun! Eh, sa Saskatchewan, parang may Sasquatch...
Hi Saringgola -- k'musta na, Chang!? Miss you naman...Yes, when we left for Manila in June last year, we returned to Chicago just to finally arrange for the transfer of all our stuff to Vancouver....putres naman yang Phil Studies to Eskimos??? 8-) I'm teaching Marketing & Bus Comm, pretty far from flip studies. But I wish....Come visit us naman in Van; we have a little room for you and guest. It's beautiful with fresh air and wide open spaces and lots of berries this summer....
sa magnet katipuna may mondo manila hindi ko lang alam kung naubos na.
Thanks for taking your time out and giving your valuable inputs. When I say I hate non-fiction, thats because a lot of times either they don't cater to my taste or they meddle with facts. With fiction I don't have to worry about such a thing. But I would try following your advice and give those books a try once I finish a couple of fiction books lying at my place.
HiI Ogot,OKay lang ako. I actually do not visit this site often befcasue I haven't read a book in a while either. As you can see, I only have 2 friends in this site, you and Fay Alavrez (AB Journalism '79). Our family might reunite to move my youngest niece and inaanak to Grinnell College in August. If the timing's right, I"m thinking of helping Cherry move to her new place. Will you be around?Kipintats!
