Hi! I am Peter Born and raised in Tanzania. Overland Mission is a none profit Christian Organization that was founded by Peter Msumari at a time he stated distributes the Holly Bible to Muslims area. I have been used in various ways by the Lord; for instance, I have worked with the International Bible Society and more recently at the Safina Radio.
In 1999 the organization established and based its roots in Arusha, Tanzania. Since then, Overland Mission not only distribute Bibles but assist the homeless, those affected by disasters, widors ,orphans and the poor people in Tanzania community. And future to many that may not have it otherwise .Overland Mission project’s giving new life to many that find themselves in despair. Connecting people and helping people find each other seems only natural and part of who we are as social beings. The way the world has managed.

Though a land endowed with diverse beauty, Tanzania faces adverse challenges; poverty ranking top amongst other challenges. Our interest has mainly been the dilapidating living conditions of the Muheza village in Tanga (northern Tanzania). Currently we are supporting 50 children who are from economically challenged homes. These are children who would have otherwise been plunged into an abyss of uncertainty and hopelessness. We’ve had cases where children fled from their homes, as there was absolutely no food. It is therefore with much effort that we are extending our hands to these disadvantaged individuals with the hope that they will provide a basis for the very much-desired change particularly in this village of Muheza.
Interestingly several Non Governmental Organizations have visited and attempted to help, however they get complacent and fail to address the key issues. Sadly enough there are those who offer services with strings attached and as such we felt an urge to take up responsibility and be a part of the solution rather than whine around waiting for we all know that actions speak louder than words and this is where our mission as the ‘overland mission’ edges out from: endeavor to give hope to the hopeless.
At the moment our biggest challenge is to construct a permanent office for our ‘Over Land Mission’ in Lushoto where we can be able to mobilize our resources accordingly as well as commencing the ‘land for cows project’ a project that is supposed to empower the citizens economically -rather than giving money, we would probably give them cows to farm with and also milk thus they wouldn’t have to come everyday for some money; hence provide a lasting benefit to the Tanzanian community at large. Both the project and construction of the office will cost us about 25, 000 USD.
However there are other necessities that are still pending like the very much needed vehicles for transportation of goods to the necessary location as well as moving the HIV/AIDS prevention trainees to their respective locations. The trainees are volunteers from local high schools in Tanzania and we are very grateful for their support. Thus our mission stretches beyond giving hope to the Muheza people to the rest of Tanzania, which attests to the name ‘Over land mission.’
Huge as the figure may seem (25, 000 USD) we are optimistic that we will be able to kick off with this project. We have hope that together we can be able to put potential students off the streets and we can put a smile on the tired faces of the desperate mothers. Unity is strength and together we can surmount the insurmountable, let us try and equalize things a little before we depart from this world.
