Diana

Hi, I'm Diana. I own way too many books...some of my book shelves have triple rows. And yes, I have had a book shelf break under the weight before. How The Irish Saved Civilization is a fascinating book, which makes reading history enjoyable. It is the only book I've read dealing with the Irish contribution to mankind. Very readable ,and full of history you don't get in school but should.

About Farewell To Arms, it is very respected and for good reason, but I find this writer hard to read. Make up your own mind. I like Upton Sinclair's 11 volume series, and Orwell's writing, when it comes to books on wwII.

As for Kane And Abel I like Archer in general but his best is As The Crow Flies - this one is the first in a series and you can read all of it.

I liked your write up in your profile and found some things similar - it was not my shelf but my back that broke when I lifted one trunk full of my books. And I too used to listen to music while reading or studying. Now, often I prefer silence which is not easy to find.

About the Francine Prose book, I started and stopped it. Maybe because I'm reading 5 or 8 books at the moment. I liked what I read, and I may get back to it.

Did you read p.s i love you? How did you like it? Who's your favourite author? I enjoy readind all kinds of books but mostly fiction. What would be the one book you'd suggest i'd read? Sometimes recommended books may turn out to be a good read.

The recommendation stuff is fouled up again... but anyway, based on your favorites, I think you would like Stardust - the book - even better than the movie.

Thanks Diana once again for your reply. You do have a huge library and glancing through it found that we have a lot of books in common.I don't have a copy yet of jean Auel, but hope to get one soon.
