The irony would be that abstinence didn't even work in her own home--how can it work in the bigger world with people who aren't as protected and as privileged as our children? Therefoer, politically, no that doesn't work for me.

Yes, I have a senior in high school. We are always talking about the consequences of her actions, and she is the result of a teenage pregnancy herself (she is my step daughter, her mother was 16 when she was born), so that is not something we have ever glazed over with her. We are very loving and very realistic.

Yes! The HBO special complemented my reading of My Dearest Friend perfectly. Abigail was an amazing woman. I certainly hope she'll invite me over for a chat in the afterlife. I'll bring her some tea - Samuel Adams' wife didn't question the tax-free tea she incorrectly received from an "admirer", when it was really from John to Abigail! Abigail was rightly peeved when she realized the mistake and had seen Sam's wife bragging about it and serving generous portions to guests! What a hoot.

Good of you for stirring the pot. On the question, When Does Life Begin? I was sorely tempted to be flip and say "35" - but the topic is just too sensitive! You're braver than me - but then again, you are armed =)

Fellow Texan here - just thought I'd let you know that even though we don't see entirely eye-to-eye on everything, I've been enjoying your posts very much! I recently went horseback riding in the mountains of Montana, and giggled with my best friend when I observed that her husband (riding ahead of us) sported a hunting knife and gun on his belt. I laughed at my sissy self and said - gee, in DFW we just carry pagers and cell phones - guess I'd rather be protected by your husband right now! I could just see a mountain lion bearing down on us and me frantically waving my cell phone around looking for bars to call 911.....

My daughter is about to be 18 years old--and is still a virgin. Idf she becomes pregnant, we would certainly feel responsible, as should all parents with pregnant children--children being the operative word here.

I'm not being anymore judgmental than Sara P--who is much more offensive for hating/fearing all Muslims for no good reason.

I apologize if I offended you--that was not my intent, but I was trying to make a comparison there to show how much sense it makes--and truthfully, since abstinence is one of Palin's platforms--her 17 year old daughter being pregnant is pretty ironic, you must agree.

Sorry to hear that I won't be seeing you at the gym anymore after your month is up. It's understandable though.

I'm glad you are enjoying this site. It's great for us book junkies huh! HA! Yeah, let me know when you are ready to read Stolen Innocence and we'll exchange at the gym or maybe just meet up for lunch around the area. You take care and hope to run into you at the gym before your month is up. Later!

    Anna,

Thanks for your friendship:) You and your daughter will LOVE the play. I saw it with a friend and then took my granny to see it for her birthday a couple of years ago, and I bought the soundtrack. You should see me prancin' around my house, singing and acting out scenes. lol. The play made me cry, laugh and rejoice. It was such a wonderful experience. Enjot it and let me know what you think.

Thanks for sending an actual note with your friendship request! Yes, I did like what you had to say most on the discussion. But I personally don't like either Obama or McCain. I really am not sure if either one of them can get the job done. Thanks again!

Actually there was a guy in front of Gruene Dance Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas, who had the birds. If you look close there is a very large Parrot on my head and I had a flying squirrel on my chest. They are not personal friends of mine. I do have a kitty though and her made is Rita as in margarita.

So, who's the cutie on your shoulder? Does he enjoy reading too? If that's a parrot you should have him memorize books so he can tell you stories.
