“Good young adult novel. The characters behave like real teenagers, not some adult idealized version of how they should be. ...”
“One of Tom Clancy's best. Good on details, but not overly so (unlike some of his other novels, where I almost get lost in...”

I can't even imagine! I think it would be scarier to hear it than to read it anyway because you can't self-edit when you're hearing it! Be really careful while you're driving and pull over immediately if you see any little dolls!
I hope you're feeling better now! I have read Tick Tock and I loved it! Be prepared, it's one of those that end really quickly. I didn't feel cheated though!
Hi there! Missed you at the studio last Wednesday! I just finished a book you might like. It's called "There's No Place Like Here" by Cecelia Ahern. It's quirky and fun, like nothing I've read before. It's about a woman who finds missing people and then goes missing herself in the place where all your lost things go--you know the sock that never comes out of the dryer etc. I really enjoyed it!
Sounds yummy! We'll have to try it some time! In the mean time, I'm looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
i'm being a good girl and put aside my fluff for a day or so. I'm working on a book by Stephen Ambrose--some of his observations on American history after years of teaching, researching and writing. It's interesting. I'm also running out of time on simple abundance, so I'll try to read it today and tomorrow. This good for the mind stuff is not nearly as fun as the fluff!
It was so good to see you and actually get to talk to you at the studio yesterday! I'll probably be seeing you a lot on Saturday! Or are you taking a break from helping with the test?
I did count what i remembered reading so far as the year is already half over!I talked to Mr. Bear at the studio yesterday and he told me all about the Twilight series and that you were going to let him go on the site and look for some books. He's a cutie! One of Jordan's friends gave her "Sail" by James Patterson for her birthday and she's been glued to it. I don't know how i feel about that because I haven't read it yet. She said the "f" word is in the book more times than she's ever heard it in her life. I told her that was all right as long as she didn't start saying it. Then this morning she mentioned that one of the characters is having an affair and the sex was very vivid. My stomach tightened. We had a good chat about it, but I'll be reading ahead of her again for a while. And directing her to some young adult stuff. It's crazy hard to find good reading for these kids that are smarter than they are old!

Hi Atilla! Welcome to PBT! I noticed that you recently joined our group and, having joined only a few months ago myself, know that the many activities and posts can be overwhelming! Let me start by giving you a brief overview of what activities PBT has going on right now. Every month, a tag from the top 200 Shelfari tags is chosen, July's tag is fairy tales. After you read a book that is tagged fairy tales or even a book that you think fits the tag (we're not too picky) then post it on the thread entitled July tag: collective reads for our shelf. Feel free to look through this thread also to see what others have read, ask questions, or chime in with your thoughts. Lots of great discussion starts here.We started a new game at the beginning of the month: Tag it to the Max. This game is a bit more detailed but the general idea is that you sign up if you are interested, the administrator of PBT assigns you a random starting tag from the top 200 Shelfari tags, and then you read one book per tag as you work your way alphabetically through the list. There are lots of little side rules, etc and you can find all of these if you search our discussion for Rules for tag it to the max. Then, if you are interested in joining, you can sign up on the thread sign up for tag it to the max.You can also learn more about the group by searching the discussions for FAQ for new members. And the final way to learn more is to ask me! Feel free to ask if you have questions or need direction. :) I noticed that you are new to Shelfari in general and don't have many books on your shelf...I look forward to seeing what you add! :)See you on PBT!Happy reading,Nicole
i am definitely a book lover. And I like to read what my girls are reading so we can talk about it and so I know if there are issues in the book that we might need to talk about. I joined the Young Adult Fiction group and asked for suggestions for Jordan because she has a struggle similar to Mr. Bear's. She's reading at a college level but a lot of the books I read are just to mature for her. She read "The Client" by Grisham--that's the one where the main character is a boy about her age--and she loved it. So then she tried a couple more by hm and was bored to tears because she hasn't had the life experiences to make them interesting to her yet. I also joined the group that is tracking their reading with the goal for each individual to read at least 50 books in 2008. I've really enjoyed the site so far and it's good to track what I'm reading. One thing that really struck me is that I read a lot of fluffy fiction and no real "thinking" books. I may need to buckle down a bit!
I have really enjoyed the site. I joined several of the groups Thursday and asked for some suggestions for Jordan to read and have received several great suggestions. I loved 14. How is Duma Key going?
