Lucky enough to read an advanced copy - 'Catching Fire' is every bit as good as 'The Hunger Games'. Yes, the Capitol is NOT pleased! Just as riveting as the first book, it lays groundwork for a third book. (And yes, I've already ordered my hard copy coming out in September!)

Once I started reading this novel I couldn't put it down. It is the first in a planned trilogy and I can hardly wait to for book two to be released! Collins has created such vivid images I could make a movie! I love her subtle touches that had me smiling and saying YES! Read this one.

I love Alexandra Ripley's style of writing and was pleased when she was selected to write the sequel to Margaret Mitchell's American classic. It was well written and enjoyable, but I was still left feeling it was a bit more "romance novel" than it should have been.

An epic novel. American classic novel. I first read this as a teen and reread it every few years. Margaret Mitchell was passionate about the historical accuracy of her Civil War dates. A brilliant novel with memorable characters. (Much better than the movie!)

My favorite sci-fi of all time. It deals with Ish who finds himself seemingly alone in the world. It appears all of civilization has died from a mysterious plague. He searches & finds others and literally restarts to rebuild civilization.
Absolutely fascinating. I have read this many times & will many more times. It's almost an apocolyptic view of society.

A must read - definate classic. I find this on my list of feminist books. The humble O-lan works & bears sons for her husband. He feels he's such a good provider, but in truth, all their riches are because of O-lan. In China at the turn of the century you follow the family & their climb to wealth. This is a book I felt compelled to read AFTER seeing the movie. As is usually the case, the book is even better than the movie.

For all you soccer fans - this book is about hooliganism in the UK. It is written by an American journalist that chronicals his view from the inside of the 'footie fanatics' as he follows the lads in their violent zeal. Truly a socialogical study of mob mentality. I loved it & couldn't put it down. I don't think we have this sort of religious devotion to any sport in the US.

A librarian friend recommended this book to me even though it's written for children (7-14 years) I found it a good read and intro to science fiction.
