I'm glad you're enjoying Snow Melts in Spring. Thanks for letting me know. ;) I appreciate it.
Hi Ann, Yes, I think Peace Like a River is my FAVORITE book at this time. I truly enjoyed every page. :)
Oh, wonderful, Ann! I hope you love the ending! This is so fun!!!
Ann, just added a whole stack of books to my shelf. Been reading some contemporary stuff. My favorite for the moment is Veiled Freedom. I have a couple more to go and then I get to Edgar Sawtell
Hi Ann, I checked out your site. Cool! I have been reading Roots for some time now, and I take a break in between. The book is awesome of course, and I have never been one to read more than one book at a time, but I find I have to with chucky books. So I take a break and read some mind candy! My daughter goes on Spring Break in 2 weeks, and I have my vacation from work then too, and we will be heading to the lake for some R & R and will probably get in some good reading time. Here in Texas, the weather is beautiful right now! Well, I am off to work. Have a good day.
Hi Ann. I haven't heard from you in a while. Read anything awesome lately?
Thank you, I was wondering when Book 2 would be out.
Hello Ann. Well, I finished this book last night, and honestly, at the end I felt like it was just thrown in there. It did not go with the story to me. Just didn't seen to fit. But I did love the book.
Hey there! I just want to wish you a Merry Christmas!
Indeed I will! I look forward to it.
Ann, Are you the author of The Edge of Light?
I'll let you know Ann! And writing the review was my pleasure.
Hi Ann! It was so good to meet you at ACFW. And thanks for the kind review. :-)
I am a Tess Gerritson fan. When I think of her, I think of The Bone Garden. I really liked that book. But to think about it, there are not too many books I don't like! I am about to finish up The Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. Not my usual, but it is ok, never the less.
That would be the perfect ending! At the beginning of the novel, I did not necessarily dislike Trudy, but I had a feeling of indifference. Towards the end, I lost that indifference, and it turned into pity. She never paid attention to Edgar about Claude, and that made me not like her character too much. I can just see Glen with that wrestler hold on her! I am not sure when I will get around to The Art of Racing in the Rain. I am reading The Haunting by Shirley Jackson. After The Sawtelle book, it would be hard not to compare the 2 books, so I did a genre switch.
I have to admit, I didn't really think Claude would get to Edgar. That one surprised me. And when Edgar found the 3 graves, that was a tear jerker. But I really felt a lot lighter about it at the end when Edgar and Almondine were talking, and she was telling him that he was just lost. That made it easier for me. Essay is the one that fascinated me. When she went out and confronted that tornado/water funnel! And Fort too! I am curious, though, through out the book they kept hinting at what made the Sawtelle dogs special, and what was your final take on that? Remember at the end when Edgar said he saw the first hint of wolf in Essay? I just picked up The Art of Racing in the Rain today also. Have you heard anything on there one?
I finished it around 1:00 this morning. Wow, what can I say? It was awesome. I really hope this is not this author's only book. He is talented. I wonder if non-dog people would like it the same way that we did?
I am having the same reaction as you are to the book The characters are real to me.Almondine is so precious, and I am partial to Essay, too. And the way the author takes us into Edgar's feelings! I can not imagine how this book will end. Wondering if I need to get a box of tissues?
Hey there! I am about 3/4 of the way through with The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, and I really, really, like this book. The characters are so real, and the dogs, what can I say? This book is really leaving an impression on me. There is so much that goes on in the novel, and it just might be my favorite read of the year so far, but of course I am not finished yet!
Yes, I love dogs! Growing up, my parents breed Dobermans, so I am really liking the dog past of this book. The characters are so likable, too. I am to the part now where the brother shows up. Well, off to work shortly. Look forward to discussing it more.
