I recently finished Garden of Last Days and wanted to see what other people thought of it. You mentioned that you hadn't read Dubus before ... I highly recommend House of Sand and Fog. I thought it was better than GLD and I never would have guessed the ending. It was made into a movie which I'm sure was good but I couldn't bring myself to see it. If you read House of Sand and Fog, let me know what you thought of it.

Wow - that is very cool. That sounds like lots of fun. Hey, we moved back to the T.C. We are in Burnsville. Ryan was ready for some variety in his job and I was ok with that because I was ready to see my friends again. Have you had your surgery yet?

Oh good! There are so many variations of titles that you never know if it's the same book...
I agree that Ender's Game and Speaker are great, thought provoking books. The last two books in that set get a little strange, but still really interesting.

Speak of the Dead or Speaker for the Dead? I've read Speaker for the Dead, which I do think is a good book, but it could be different than the one you're thinking of...
