I think you would like "The Hunger Games". Also, I saw you like "The Glass Castle". I'm glad. The story is very much like my childhood. Didn't scar me, just make me more receptive to life. Back to the Hunger Games. It's for young adults. It's a trilogy. I decided not to read the second book until closer to August when the final book is released. A brilliant work of social comment for young minds (and older ones).

Jeannette Wells (the Glass Castle) has written a new novel based on her grandmother's life. Half Broke Horse. I haven't read it yet but it's on my list. I just finished The Forgotten Garden. Every character is so, so interesting. The story line is a mystery, but it's more about family relationship. I think you will enjoy it.

    Hi Sonnet
I have a great book for young professional women, like you. When everything changed. by Gail Collins. It's non-fiction and it will give you some insight to the roads we older ones traveled.

    Hi Sonnet
I see you just finished The Host. So did I. It's one of my favorites, too. The Human spirit, with all its faults, will always win because of its passion.

This is just a P.S. Look up John Steinbeck's Short Stories. They're wonderful. He's my favorite of that era. He understood women and the misunderstood.

    Hi Sonnet,
Last week, My daughter, Stef, and granddaughter, Alex, went to Des Moines, Ia, to see Lisa See at a book signing and talk. Totally awesome. I've read four of her books. She writes of strong women (like us). Love her. Sandy

    Sonnet,
I just finished a book I think you would enjoy. Daughter, Stef, recommended to me after she read it. It's Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by James Ford. It's his first novel and very enjoyable. It's a quick read. Hope you enjoy it.

You must read "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan". It's a woman's only book. I wept and cheered at the same time for the trials and victories of being a woman.

I'm in the middle of the Twilight series and I LOVE it! My daughter, of course, is infatuated with Edward so it's been fun discussing with her. Hey, I noticed you plan on reading Peony in Love. I just ordered it from Amazon since Snow Flower and the Secret Fan was amazing! Anyway - if you haven't read that, I highly recommend. Have a great week.

What'd you think of "What I talk about..."? I saw your note that we had a couple of running/health related books in common and I just finished it earlier this week. I thought there were some good themes and points overall, but it had a little bit of arrogance about it. What'd you think?
