“There's something vaguely hypnotic about the way the author writes, it just draws you in. It does feel like he's just talking to YOU. You know his audience is huge, but he does a good job of making you feel like you are just sitting down with him and he's just talking to you personally, giving you a little coaching session and telling you these little gems that just could change your life. There were lots of little things that niggled at the back of my mind, but not until he said something to the effect of Don't Worry About Concepts, The Only Thing You Can Do Anything About is Events. So, if you have a concept like "I am a bad daughter", well you will be stuck in that. But, if you take an event like the last time dad called I did nothing to offer him help, I wasn't very kind and I didn't ask him about himself. You now have something to work with. Next time, I can offer to rake his leaves, take him to the market, see how he's feeling. So that was a breakthrough thought. So simple but so true. The other big thought was Why Not Tell The Truth? Yeah, why? If something has got you so miserable and you are stuffing it down and not talking about it, why not bring it out and make the change? This was a book worth reading just for those concepts. The author is good at making you feel like you CAN change and you have a superstar in you.”
