you're very welcome. i have a few more recs for boys in particular. "swim the fly" is kind of like those rude adolescent comedies (think american pie, superbad, and the new guy). it was written by a screenwriter and extremely popular with boys. i read parts of it and it's pretty funny. the "evil genius" series by catherine jinks is a hit with boys. for those who enjoy old private eye crime novels like marlowe and spade will enjoy "the big splash" which introduces a new genre called "junior high noir." a good book for girls is "castration celebration." i really enjoyed "impossible" by nancy werlin and "the reformed vampire support group" by catherine jinks. for lots more recommendations visit our website at sheridanwyolibrary.org and click on "teens."

another good set of books are the forensic mysteries by alane ferguson. i read "the christopher killer" a couple of weeks ago, and any kid that likes CSI will enjoy these books.

i just read through three young adult books this weekend. "bloom" and "stealing heaven" by elizabeth scott and "playing with matches" by brian katcher. elizabeth scott is a good author for girls who enjoy "real" romances with happy endings. "playing with matches" was hysterical and very well written from the perspective of a seventeen year old dork. very endearing character. i also read "wake" by lisa mcmann. it was not what i expected but i really liked it. the sequel, "fade' comes out this month.

one other that i've read recently and was really good: "sebastian darke: prince of fools" by philip caveney. this is a very cute book about a jester, a talented warrior who happens to be a baby-faced dwarf (so nobody takes him seriously) a spoiled princess and a talking pessimistic buffalope. hilarious.

i have that one in my collection and plan to read it. i also have "gone" by michael grant and that one looks really good. i just finished "feels like home" by E.E. Charlton-Trujillo. it was really good. i also read "the creek" my jennifer l. holm. not so good. kind of farfetched and unbelievable, but tolerable enough for a thriller/scary story. i'm going to read "wicked lovely" and "the graveyard book" next.

i've just ordered a bunch of graphic novels including year one, the dark knight returns and the dark knight strikes again. i looked at "origin" and i want to order it too. apparently zombies are the "new vampire" and i ordered "generation dead" by daniel waters to see how it does. so far not well, but it's only been on the shelf for a few days. i will have it on my display and let you know if it moves. i may check it out first and see if it's worth the money i spent on it! i'm reading "ghostgirl" right now. it's kind of cute. our kids here in wyoming are really into ghosts, vampires, and witches. it may be different in other places.

i've finished "take me there" by susane colasanti. it's along the same line as "heartbreakers" though not as humorous and written from the point of view of three teenagers. i thought it was very good. i think girls will really enjoy this book.

i could use some recommendations on batman graphic novels since he's becoming popular again with the new movies. i'm pretty good with manga suggestions but the other stuff i have trouble with. i need to look over the watchman as it's on the list of suggested titles each library should have. i should add some wolverine. everybody loves him. i've found "vampire knight" and "black cat" do well. also "naruto" and "inu yasha" are extremely popular.

wow, i've never been famous before! well, i'm happy to help. my favorite part of my job is finding young adult books that my teenagers will enjoy and so far, most of my additions are getting checked out. we are big into vampires here in wyoming so i have definitely added a lot of vampire novels.

i'm reading "unleashed" right now which is a werewolf book. i'm not completely in love with it though. i guess everyone should judge for themselves, but i think sex is treated too casually among the teens in the book and it's not quite the message i'd want to give out to kids. read it though, and see what you think. it's always worth the read!

for girls i'd have to recommend "the heartbreakers" by pamela wells. it is pure fluff but it's really good. i really loved "ghost medicine" by andrew smith. it's not getting the recognition or the chances that it deserves. anyone who loved the outsiders will love this book. "another kind of cowboy" was very good too. the characters were fun and anyone who loves horses will enjoy it.
