Hi Rheta,I just wanted to pop by and welcome you to Book Chat. We have a great group of people, so feel free to join in our discussions or start you own.Happy Reading!Lorin
I totally agree; it's one of the best nonfiction books I've read in years.
Don't you love "Outliers?" I'm reading it too and keep telling Gary and Jeffrey what it says--I'm sure it's very annoying!
Hi Rheta! I kind of forgot about Shelfari -I just added a bunch that I've read. How have you been?? How's the dog?
Ignore my last post--I was looking at the wrong page! Geesh, I'd better get back on here and back up to speed!
What happened to everyone on shelfari? I wonder if it boots you off after so long being inactive--but in that case, I'd be gone too. Did they all remove their profile?
Hi! "More than it hurts me" was GOOD--I had to send it to Jackson for a hold.
What book did you get where the Nesei Daughter was in? I'm having problems getting a copy of the book at NCPL.
Oh no, I've hit a reading dry spell--I've started five books this week and didn't like any--took them all back to the library. Recommendations????
I finished "Eat Pray Love"--very new-agey but she had some interesting thoughts on spirituality. Don't bother with Lace Reader--ugh. Another "bad Christians pick on good witches."
move your mouse over the book, and click the drop-down on "I've read this" and checkmark "Favorite"
Was the other plague book "World without end" by Follett?
I actually was at FCC yesterday, hoped I would see you but alas. Probably still on vacation? Hope you had a good time!
I see you have Julia Child on your shelf--I forgot to tell you that "My life in France" is an excellent bio--I reviewed for Mass Womens Club culinary section. Woudln't have picked it up on my own, but was glad they "made" me read it.
Two balloons took off yesterday morning from the church in our backyard but I didn't know it, so was outside with the dog in PJs glasses and no bra (me, not the dog!), and down the street comes a chase vehicle--ppor them! ha
Last night I was in the garden and soo many balloons floated over. Then, some excitement on the street, a balloon landed there at our stop sign, Burgundy and Brandy Circle. All the neighbors came out, almost like a block party. We have no utility wires, but good thing they didn't come down in a tree. Here's a link http://www.flickr.com/photos/rheta_rheta/2704237390/
I just started the Chocolat sequel this morning (woke up early because of balloons inflating behind our house!) but rats, have to scrub kitchen floor
CS Lewis thinks that appreciation of art is actually our yearning for God, so this is intriguing.
How is the L'Engle? I haven't read her for years.
