Hi Margaret,
Enjoyed reading The Shack. Rick really got into it!
Hey Margaret!
Do you ever rate your books? I RESPECT YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS!
So, how did you like Moloka'i? I should remember to recommend that to more people!
Margaret,
I missed my sunset here because I'm inside, watching a Giants game on the telly, and reading during commercials and pitching changes! One of my favorite things to do, and of course my kitties are circling me for attention. This is the life! Thanks for being a new friend too.
I was so excited to see that someone mentioned "moloka'i" as their favorite read this summer! I manage an indie bookstore and that book was the #1 selling paperback for us for almost a year. I just got my hands on his next book coming out spring of 2009, it's called "Honolulu". Looking forward to this one too!
For September, it's "Year of Wonders" by Geraldine Brooks. Not sure how this one will go over, it's about the plague deaths in medieval Europe. Sometimes Rheta gets on threads (as do we all) and last year she read a few on the topic! We read Brook's book "March" and enjoyed it. It was the story of the *father* of the Little Women, set during the Civil War.
We just met Tuesday night, and the August book was "Plague of Doves" by Louise Erdrich. Oly half of us read the book, and I think I was the only one who liked it--not an easy read, but Erdrich can sure write a beautiful sentence, and create characters that stick with you.
I'm a friend of Melissa's - from what I hear, I seriously envy your collection!
Margaret,
This is a GREAT idea! When I have a little time, I'll figure out the website. I enjoyed Water for Elephants this summer, except, I wasn't thrilled with the ending. Hope you had a great summer. See you sooon!
yes, I keep thinking of more, then wondering if I can recall the author or title! (or, like library patrons, remember "it's got a red cover and is about this big!")
Wow! You've added a lot of books, I'll have to go down through your shelf to get some ideas!
welcome! Warning...we've found this to be very addictive! Melissa is a lovely young lady, so I look forward to our new online friendship :)
Hi! If you look at my page and then click on my friends, you can ask them to let you be their friends. Sherie is a librarian and reads, honestly, I think, more than you do. I think you might enjoy talking to her.
