I'm enjoying it. The language is very rich and compact, so I have to pay attention...on the surface; it's a rip-roaring adventure set in a geographical time and place that I know little about...and feel a bit uncomfortable/guilty about my ignorance.
I ended up getting Quincas Borba as I was at the library yesterday. It is pretty good so far. Did I tell you I hate literary criticism? Blah!
I like the library, it is free and it should exist. Support your local library!
I've got "Beard on Bread" . it purdy good bread book for bread makin'.
Okay which Machado should I check out from the library? I can't afford to buy books unfortunately so I am limited to what the librarians pick. Our local officials have: " The Hand and the Glove" , "The Devil's Church and Other Stories","Philosopher or Dog", "The Psychiatrist and...", "Epitaph of a Small Winner", "Quincas Borba"? I guess I will browse and decide on a couple.
