NeptuneTide

Hmm...what to say? I am a high school librarian and (duh) I love to read ;) I'll read just about anything that piques my interest. I enjoy gardening, writing when I find my muse, and relaxing every chance I can get. I'm a romantic at heart and a quiet person. I am interested in ancient Japanese culture, ancient history, and mythology. I... more »

I'm glad you feel the group is going pretty well so far... I hope to keep the momentum up and not let it die out, so if you have any good Off Topic (OT) discussions you think everyone would like please feel free to add them! Thank you for your input so far as well!

    The Ancient One says

"I cannot go to school today"
    Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.

My mouth is wet, my throat is dry.
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
    I've counted sixteen chicken pox.

    And there's one more - that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut, my eyes are blue,
It might be the instamatic flu.

I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke.
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
    My belly button's caving in.

My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My toes are cold, my toes are numb,

I have a sliver in my thumb.

My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,

I think my hair is falling out.

My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
    My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,

There's a hole inside my ear.

I have a hangnail, and my heart is ...
What? What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is .............. Saturday?

G'bye, I'm going out to play!"

    Hello Hon:
How are you and your family? Danny and I are fine. Danny sends his regards to you and your family. Thank you for the kind words. I'm relieved that I don't have cancer. I haven't been on for a while, but thought I'd check it out again tonight. Princess, (my cat) is sitting on the computer desk with me while I'm typing this to you. It's still nice and warm here so far. Any news of wedding bells for you and Gary? I'm not reading anything now either, but I think I'll start something tomorrow. Please write back. Good to hear from you. Love Your Friends, Judy and Danny

Well I'm certainly glad you did! :D I might also have to watch them again before school starts next week ;) I just bought the book Before Green Gables by Budge Wilson, and I haven't read all of the other Anne books yet so, like you, I have many great hours to come. Happy reading! :)

FLCL... Well, in all truths, the anime made more sense than the manga. It's as if the manga's author tried too hard to be completely random and it didn't work out for him. I understood some of it, but at the end, I sat there, staring at the book, going: "....................................................................what just happened................................................................................did I miss something...........................................................?" lol

    Hello Justine:
How are you? Danny and I are fine. I don't have cancer, which is a big relief for me. Are you enjoying your summer so far? It's been rainy here. It seems we haven't had much of a summer. Are you reading anything good? Please say hi to your mom and Gary for us. Please write back. Your friend, Judy

I just ordered Marine Sniper for my HS library. Always on the lookout for good books to add to the 20th century and beyond reading list that has become part of the 10th grade Social Studies curriculum. This sounded like one that might interest the boys. I found out about it by snooping around someone else's Shelfari Shelf. I've gotten good ideas by looking into books that "friends" have as favorites or 5 star books.

Ah yes, getting students to read can be a challenging task! We're learning about that in class at the moment actually "teaching reading" ! It's been pretty interesting so far - all the different strategies that have been suggested! :)
