Hi ya all! I am married and the mother of a grade schooler. I am employed in the retail field and in my free time ( what's that???) I enjoy camping, running, and just hanging with the family.

I have a wide variety of tastes in books, ranging from urban fantasy, mystery, contemporary, YA, and just about any and all in between!

I enjoyed this book very much. It was an interesting historical "what if" story. I couldn't put it down. There surviving journal followup was an enjoyable end to the story. Also, this sure makes you think about how poorly our American Indians were treated. I don't think you will be disappointed. I have now checked out Wild Girl by Fergus hoping it will be as good. The Thousand White Women is a hard act to follow.

Yes. My daughter read it and told me that it was comparable to the first.

I'm enjoying it thus far. I have read about 250 pages. The first part is similar to Stephen King's The Stand in that both works spends time in character development.

Well, Heart Shaped Box was a better, scarier, book. This one was more philosophical and theological. You might want to see what others said to determine if it is worth picking up again.

Just realized I said I liked it in my first post. Then said I didn't like it a whole lot in the second post. ?? To clairfy, I liked the info about FLW, the history and the background.

Overall, I didn't like it a whole lot, either. Way too much information about Ellen Key, etc. And I never really got why she found FLW so magnetic.
I'm looking forward to reading House Rules. It's received really good reviews. I like Jodi Picoult.

I finished Loving Frank last night. Overall, I liked it. It was interesting to me to read about the early days of FLW, before he became a legend. Most of the way through, I wasn't sympathetic to Mamah. When she finally realized what she'd lost, and the lives she'd affected, I was judgmentally glad, I must admit.
But the ending knocked my socks off! All the way through I fought the temptation to Google their history to see what happened to them, and I'm so glad I didn't. I was stunned at the way things turned out.
Now please tell me what you thought.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through right now. It's an interesting story, well written. But I keep feeling I'm watching a train wreck about to happen--I'm not too sympathetic to Mamah at this point. Would love to talk about the book with you when I finish.

Wow girl. Must be a popular book! My library has it, but there is only one copy of it and there is currently 41 holds for it. Wow. Guess I'll have to "get in line" :)

Just saw all the recommendations you've sent me! Wow. I've not Shelfaried in a while. lol. Might like the SPIDER'S BITE (think that was the book) that you recommended me. I saw it at Walmart (I think). My TBR is full of library books, four to be exact and expecting more!! Hehe. And, with both my jobs on full time standing right now, I've less time to read. ::) But keep the recommendations coming...I'll add them to my wish lists. :)

    Vicki,
Just about finished, I have passed this book on to a number of people lately, what I like best about this novel is that it is both historical and horrific at the same time.
Quite interesting that the root cause of all our nations early struggles were do to vampires....who knew ?

    Hey there,
So far I really like the Abe book, really funny yet strangely informative! Pure fun. I got it because the author was here and he was really funny! I have not read Angelology yet, but the NY Times loved it.
