I liked it a lot! The only other Indian book I've read was Homeless Bird when I was younger, and I remember loving that book! I still have it, actually! Last night I also watched Brick Lane, which was kind of the same genre. All interesting!

    Amy,
I haven't found an online reading club yet; several of my friends retired at the same time I did. We decided to form a book club, and I'm so glad we did because it makes us get together once a month--most of us have known each other over 20 years. We live in SC and are going to the beach to hear Anne Rivers Siddons the 29th of Oct. --wish you could go too!! I'm taking my favorite of hers Peachtree Road for her to autograph. We did the Friday Night Knitting Club last month--I liked it--good escape--but several of the fussier ones in our group didn't. Don't guess they'd like the Debbie Macomber Blossom Street series!! I'll read the sequel to it when it comes out. We did Billie Lett's Honk and Holler which is good; Old Dogs and Children by Bob Inman; and you might like both of those. We're doing Family Linen (have read-was ok) by Lee Smith for Nov. and Water for Elephants (haven't read)for Dec. Some in this group are more particular about reading "good writing" than I am. I just want a good read---have read enough "have to's" in my time. I survived 40 years of teaching by escaping from the stress by reading Harlequins and Silhouettes which I still enjoy--some of your mainstream writers began their writing careers by writing for those series. People who used to fuss about my reading their books in Harlequin and Silhouette are now raving over their mainstream books!! If you find a good online book club, let me know; I'll do the same for you. Have a great day!!

    Hey Amy,
I notice you have two other Picoult novels on your book shelf so you know she is a deep read. I put off reading Mercy--got it at a thrift shop-- because I don't like books about cheating spouses. My book club decided to read it for our Sept book so I had to read it to be able to discuss it. Once I got going, I found myself really enjoying it. I enjoyed the way Picoult developed her characters throughout the novel and seeing the main character find strength in herself throughout her ordeal. Have you tried My Sister's Keeper? That is another Picoult that you won't forget!!

Shelfari is a great procrastination tool. When I need to work on something--that's when I feel really inspired to write book reviews!

Hi Amy! I notice you added "I Who Have Never Known Men" to your wish list. I really love this book! I'm interested to know what you think when you read it.
