I'm trained as a school library media specialist but not currently working in education at all for a variety of reasons I won't go into here. That said, I love to read and will read just about anything. I do skew toward young adult literature because I find a lot of the adult literature I've read a bit pretentious. I've found that don't like extremely 'literary' works unless they also speak to me in some way. For example, I loved The Kite Runner because it was a great story with relatable characters (for me), but I hated A Hundred Years of Solitude because I just didn't get it, wasn't drawn in to the lives of the characters at all. Both considered 'great' by the 'critics'. This shelf is a way for me to keep a running list of those books I would like to read and also get recommendations from other readers like me.
