In a moment of pique and frustration Virginia wrote an open letter to Oprah, and shared it with a few writer friends who are going through the same thing we are. Now the letter has started to go viral--getting a lot of repostings and inclusions in blogs, newsletters and on Facebook, so in case you hadn't seen it, we wanted to share our plight, the plight of many black authors with you, readers who have supported us all these years. http://twomindsfull.blogspot.com.

In reality Oprah is just a metaphor--a name that might get this subject the attention it deserves. Because when you have a publication like Library Journal listing their 31 Best Books of 2009 http://ow.ly/HDU7 and the "genre" fiction list includes Street Lit --8 books but no category for contemporary African American writers, we are really in trouble.

We are trying to encourage diversity in reading--we believe books should be windows, not just mirrors...

Hey, Rhea, I just finished my first hand-made book trailer for Meet Me in Paris. I used my Sims to act out the parts of my characters. Hard work, but they're so funny. You should check it out on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gpX19KM8jc or on my site at http://www.scribble-scribble.com/books/books.htm I plan to make more Sims movies, so I'd love to get feedback.

The heroine of my first ever novel was called Rhea, by the way.

Look at the details you put in your response. You and some others disect stories, not just read them. You take the time to understand the characters and their place in every story. I after reading all three books, you saw something out of character, such as Cynthia having the confersation about big feet and Tracy sharing that information with JD. If Ashley had been the one doing that it would have been out of character. You would have sent me a message stating, did you forget Tracy is the nieve one not Ashley.

What I love about most of the people from Ms. Bev group is the fact that they are READERS with a variety of opionions and don't mind sharing them--good or bad. As a newbie I need that to improve my story telling skills.

So again I say, thank you while bowing down to you, simply for taking the time to share your thoughts and opinions with me.

As for the Lassiters, I do not want to ware them out. I have an outline for Ruby, the oldest daughter, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. The daughter Opal will appear in another series I'm writing called "The Barringtons". So in some way most of the Lassiters will have stories. I enjoy large families and connecting stories also.

Thank you Rhea. You have no idea what your opionon of my stories mean to me.
There are several people I hold my breath to wait for their reaction to my stories. You are one. I have no doubt that you would let me know if something did not seem right in my stories and I appreciate that feedback.

That quiet strenght the Joe and Sally have passes on to each of their children. As of today there are 5 stories in the works for the Lassiters. Diamond, Pearl, Joshua, Phire and Adam. In each you will see the streanth of the family bond between siblings.

Do you think Cynthia's choice would have been different if she knew about Samuel's duties for his country?

What do you think of Turk's role in this story?

Joshua is a very very special person. He is a caring man, but he is not to be played with. But you do realize he stayed clear of Samuel after he used the stun gun on him. He respects his big brother and his skills...... What did you think of the entire family, especially Sally.

Do you think Cynthia will be able to handle Samuel's assignments when he is called away? How do you think she will react when she sees him really in action? Or for that case Joshua too. Remember both of these men are professional killers.
    Will she regret her decission?
