The only time in my life I remember not reading is when I was in Mrs. Proby's reading class in 7th and 8th grade. Up until then, I was usually first to complete the summer reading club at the local public library. Now in my 40s, I read to escape, be entertained, learn new things, challenge my own views, travel to new places. I am currently a librarian in a prek-8th grade school. I teach middle school language arts and literature and have been in education for over 20 years, teaching grades 1-3 for most of that time. I've given away tons of books recently because of space issues, but the ones currently listed are ones I've recently read, or chose to never part with because their my all time favorites. « less
