Mindy D

I have been happily married for 23 years and mother to three DS21, DD20 and DD13. I homeschooled(am homeschooling) all three. I love to read and try to finish a book a week. Some weeks I succeed others I don't. I have really used my MP3 player in the last year and a half to use my commute time to listen to books. I have listened to books...more »

Thank you for the friend invite.I think we were running out of how many times we could write to each other without being Shelfari friends =) I think the limit is ten. I take it you're a work at home mom since you homeschool. I was a work at home mom though my sons were in county school.
Now they are grown, and I tend to my aunt and mother when they need me.
My hubby works 12 hour swing shift so I take care of whatever needs taking care of on his part. We need our days off to do nothing but read.
I hope you have a good week.

LOL, I vote for reading books. I don't know anyone who keeps their house perfect.Well maybe one person and she works all the time in her house. She wears me out just listening to her talk about all the cleaning she has done.

Let's talk about unorganize trip here. We had BibleSchool today, everything went really well. I get home lock my truck door because I left my purse in it. Why I locked it, who knows? Anyway I left a tub of bubble gum (not after the purse, it's the gum I'm after) in there also, and here I am looking for my keys everywhere and craving bubble gum, and can't find them. They're not in the truck. So to take my mind of my craving, I'm on the computer.
*Sigh* Not organized at all when I come home with an arm load of stuff and just lay my keys anywhere.

Don't you just love these shelfs.I have so many books here at home I forget what I have. With Shelfari I can keep up with all of them. Trouble is I forget where I put them. Organized is not in my vocabulary =0)

LOL... Good, maybe I will hear his voice as well. I notice you made a comment about Green Eggs and Ham.Oh my goodness, there were times I was so tempted to hide that book. Many a night my sons didn't go to sleep until I read it to them.I could close my eyes and see those words, I AM SAM,
    SAM I AM.

Hi mindy, I haven't read the book, yet. It's suppose to be on my tbr shelf. I do like Mark Lowry, I use his videos with the youth group sometimes. My sons loved them when they were younger.I got my copy at a used bookstore where I trade. You can't beat library books sales. The library I go to has a used bookstore in it.
I hope you have a good day.

Hi Mindy, Yes, The Cat Who books are clean and not gory either. The main character does have a long time girlfriend, but there is no romantic (or other) stuff about their relationship - reads more like a good friendship. The only slight mention of their relationship would be sentences like: They went in to feed the cats. (New Paragraph) A little while later, James went home to feed his own cats. It's been a while since I have read one...there may be one or two cuss words in the book...definitely not riddled with it though. I would not hesitate to recommend this series to a family that abides by a high moral standard. They are enjoyable stories and I've learned to enjoy my own cats more.

    Hope this helps!

I read all of those disney books for a biography I had to write for my college English class. Both Walt and his life were very interesting. Like many brilliant people be had a few stange quirks and he took huge risks to achieve his dreams.

Hi Mindy, welcome to Play Book Tag! I have been traveling for a couple of days so you may already know some of this information but I wanted to drop by and let you know about some of the activities going on with the group this month. First and foremost, every month we have a tag that is chosen by a randomly selected member from Shelfari's top 200 tags. The tag for July is fairy tales! Once you have read a book listed under the fairy tale tag (or even a book that you think fits the tag nicely...we're not too picky), post it under the discussion July tag: collective reads for our shelf. Books that are posted are then added to the group shelf and they also usually spur discussion!

We also have a brand new game: Tag It To The Max. This game is a little more complicated but you can find rules for it if you search our discussions for Rules for tag it to the max. Basically, you are assigned a tag by the administrator for one of the top 200 Shelfari tags and then you read one book for each consecutive tag. This game has been going on for a little over a week now but if you're interested it's not too late to join! This game will end August 31.

We also have a number of other get-to-know you games and a FAQ for new members...all of which you can find by searching our discussion threads.

You have a very impressive shelf! I noticed a couple of fairy tales on there, have you started this months challenge already?!? You also have The Book Thief and The Thirteenth Tale which are both on my TBR pile. What did you think of them? If you have any questions about PBT, please do not hesitate to ask! :)

    See you on PBT!

    Happy reading,
    Nicole
