Popped in for a break from the heat outside (jealous of the BBQ/pool party, btw!)Thanks for those suggestions. I'll definitely look up the Jane Austen ones as I am a fan. I've seen ads for the move of the Girl With the Dragon Tatoo and didn't know it was based on books. I've actually been wanting to watch the movie so may try it first. My brother actually said that he's heard it's quite good. Believe it or not I've read neither East of Eden or Atlas Shrugged! They are on the list though :)Have a fantastic day!
Hey Michelle! My mother is doing better--slowly, but surely :) Thank you for asking! I took The Book Thief out from the library at your initial recommendation but it was while I was in school so I pretty much read the first chapter and that was it. Other people have also mentioned it so that might be my next one out of the gate.I've managed to put a few of the Preston/Childs books I've read on my shelf. They are fun, easy summer reads that always have interesting tidbits to learn. If you like action, mystery and adventure they are a lot of fun.Right now I'm reading Perfume--an odd little book that has a movie version which I'd like to see. I'm also half way through The Bridge on the Drina. My mother is Serbian and this book retells events in the history of one area (it was on a list of must reads that someone compiled).Let me know what else you've read that you recommend. I like anything that is historical--nothing sappy! I left those behind in high school ;)
I can't believe it's already 2 years since I signed up for this! I thought it might be fun to get into this now that I've got more time--it's also important that I've started to MAKE time for reading :)
You know the type of books I like.....any suggestions? I'm due for another good read.
Dear MB: I am an author from Massachusetts. My debut novel HUNTING THE KING was published in April. If you enjoy reading a good thriller like DA VINCI CODE, you might like HUNTING. The novel revolves around a charismatic young woman named Molly O’Dwyer. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother die in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother’s death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college. Now an archaeologist, she has been recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to discover whatever or whoever is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As an observant Catholic, she is scared that whatever she finds will have devastating consequences for her faith. There is a wonderful YouTube book trailer well worth watching if you have the chance. Peter
Thanks for letting me know about this site! It will take me awhile to catch upto you, but I'll do my best. Tee hee.
Thanks for your prompt response. I do need a book that will hold my interest so I'd rather go for the "spectacular"......I made some nice selections from your self to read and headed out to the Library.
I'm going to select a few books you have read from the Library when I go tomorrow.Hugs, MOM
Wow, how long did it take you to gget all those books in your bookshelves. I signed up, but I don't have the time right now to doanything with it. We're knee high in boxes, trying to pack up thecar for its trip home tomorrow, and ours on Tuesday. Later...Arleen
Well, you've been busy! It'll take me some time to recall all that I've read. I did this on facebook when I still had an account. Can you imagine how many books you've read over your lifetime but can't remember?
