To Tomeka R. D. the author of Lost and Found: My name is Arturo Harris. I dont know if you remember me, but i was the security officer at ING who spoke to you about building a website to do some marketing on behalf of you and your mother. I wanted to see how you have been doing lately. Since we have talked alot of things have changed in my life and my career. I am now partnered with a book publicist named Sharmina Ellis. The moment that I agreed to partner up, you were the first person that came to mind. I dont know where you currently are with your publicity for your books but I would love to talk to you about some of the opportunities we could offer you. You previously gave me your e-mail and phone number but I lost the information when I switched phones. Please give me a call anytime at 302 985 7460. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. God bless you and have a good day.

    Peace:
When I do my book shopping this weekend, I will make your books a priority purchase. I admit to not having read poetry in quite a while, but that has nothing to with my appreciation of the art form. Poetry was my first love, my initial contact with being able to express myself on paper, so quite naturally I possess a deeply rooted affinity for the medium as well as a kinship with poets.
This is my personal opinion, but I am utterly convinced that the 70s were the golden age of poetry. Wow, some great work emerged from that period, the likes of which may never be duplicated. Yet, as with all things, evolution compels change, and poetry changed. At any rate, the genre must be kept alive. No doubt, you have done your part to contribute to the longevity of an art form that gave me literary shelter as a child, and not only do I applaud you for that. I also thank you.
Now, to your fiction writing. The transition should be smooth, the entire process being governed by your literary instincts to deliberately coerce the alphabets to perfom their magic as you desire. Prose, like poetry, is still conditioned upon the ability to paint pictures with words, a skill a poet must have. Simply transfer the skill.
Despite the mechanics of writing a novel, the essence ,once the technical requisites are conquered, will still remained tied to how well you can put the words of the English language to work for you and I encourage you to employ every word in your vast vocabulary. Words, like flowers, possess immense beauty, but you have to understood their inner workings, their secrets in order to make them do tricks for you. So view yourself as a master magician because what else is it but magic when a person can take an empty, blank piece of paper and make it come alive with imagery so profoundly appealing that it can induce laughter or tears. Is that, my sista, not magical?
I write by ear.....just like a musician. I forge a rhythm in my head with the first line I write and I use that cadence to layer what comes after. That way, I attempt to provoke a poetic lyricism to my storyline. Basically, I use meter in my fiction writing just as I used it in my poetry. Again, skills are easily transterable from one medium to the other, so don't think that you must leave behind or sacrifice anything you discovered or learned as a poet. Write on!
    Peace!

I saw The Prophet on your bookshelf. I was named after Kahlil Gibran and as a writer, I have to represent with a name like that. I feel that I have, but you can be the judge of that by checking out my new novel MATCHMAKER. You can learn more about it by going to Mosaicbooks.com.
Even though, i write novels, (I began as a poet) my writing style is influenced by my background as a poet so my work is very lyrical. Peace

To do effective book reviews, the idea is to focus on giving your readers an idea of the what these literary works are about without telling too much. You just want to whet the appetite. Give the reader a reason to want to pick up these books. Does that help?
