I am a girl at the university level in Canada. I love art, music, writing, and books. I enjoy reading most books but I really don't like bad writing, though I will only notice it when it is really bad. I also love movies and TV shows. I like action movies (James Bond, Die Hard, The Sting ect.) and crime shows (Bones, NUMB3RS, The... more »

    Hey there Rinn!
U has been pretty good. I had a Lit prof who only wore ties with animals and had an intense love of Sketchers shape-ups. I had a prof that dressed up as Karl Marx and really got into it. And I even had some profs that hadn't lost their minds too!
(It wasn't actually that mad, but what am I without my artistic flair, Rinn?)
I took some really interesting creative writing classes. I actually wrote a web series pilot with a terribly complicated premise. Which isn't too suprising since I tend to make everything in my life terribly complicated...
    But anyhoo...
How was your first year? Wild shenanigans, dizzying keg stands, your usual passtimes?
I hope you're doing well too! Where in europe are you going? I've always wanted to go to Norway, it looks beautiful. And I took one term of Italian so I could totally help you there with helpful sentences like: The bookshelf is to the left of the window.
I know, it's impressive this extensive knowledge of mine, but try to prevent your mind from being blown.
    So how have ya been?

Closed from one to three is cool with me. I'm a bit of a night owl. Not in the cool, clubbing sense, I just prefer evenings. I don't really see the point of clubs, really. The lighting is usually too dim for reading. Plus I tend to dance with my elbows which is both dangerous and frequently mocked.
You know what I really love about Italy? The light. Every picture you see is this glowing, gloden light. It's like they have their own superior sun or something.
Actually, maybe I shouldn't go. I don't tan, I pinken. Like uncooked chicken.
I likewise cannot pinpoint what is so irritating about her. Weird,eh?
I was/am on the fence about ereaders. I am notoriously bad at charging and I love my battered paperbacks too much. It's great for traveling, I imagine. With any luck it will eventually bring down the price of paper and hardbacks. What ereader did you get? 3G or Wifi?
No clue when I start. That's actually a good thing for me, or else I obsess.
Thing are good, how about you?
I'm reading a lot of Austen. And I developed a very real fear of clowns.

Glad you had such a good time! Can't wait to go myself. It seems like a great place to just backpack for months, if I ever work up the nerve, lol!
Inception was good, you should definitely see it. Please do tell me how Salt is. If I didn't loathe that Jolie woman so much I might see it, but she just makes me so mad. Don't know why.
How's your summer going? Read anything amazing? When do you leave? :(
    Have a great day!

Kind of ironic, but I decided on Italian. Maybe you could teach me a thing or two now!
Can't come Saturday. It's family day. Yeah, some people still do that. Pretty much just us. Bummer.
Have you seen Inception? It's crazy!
How was Italy? Colour me jealous, you must have had the most incredible time! Did you see anything Spectacular? Then again, everything was probably spectacular!
    Have a great day,

You're not an idiot! Not many people would guess that I am refering to Aboriginal languages.
I'm sure your exam was equally funny. Mr.McD is always a hoot. Nay, a hoot and a half.
I just read The Magicians by Lev Grossman and was cmpletely blown away! I really highly recommend it. It's a magic/fantasy novel - but not a children's book or YA novel - and I think you'd really like it. I loved it.
How are your exams going? I'm still agonizing over registration, but what else is new? lol
    Have a great day!

Normally I would start with the first book, but this is the book my book club picked. I noticed that the third story is listed as book 5 so I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it yet.

Thanks for your reply on 'Into the Dark' I haven't read any of the series and I was worried it would ruin it. :)

Thanks for your advice! You're right about Salish, it's certainly a one time opportunity. But I've been thinking about it more and I might never actually use it. While I can use Italian in only one country I can only really use Salish in certain regions here - with the few who actually know it. I don't know. I'd really hoped to learn Algonquian - I'm actually 1/16th Blackfoot and was hoping to learn something similar to what was spoken by that part of my roots. But it's not being taught, so no luck there. Oh well, lots of thinking to do. What do you plan on taking? Or are you too consumed with exams right now? I know they tend to highjack your life at times...
How was the law exam? Last year ours was literally the Twilight story (with a twist ending) with our names exchanged with those of the characters. I laughed through the whole thing! And I am very impressed with your adventurous journey to the exam. I shall now call you Indiana Rinn!

I, personally, really enjoyed Tin Man. The ending is a little lacking, but the beginning makes up for it.
I absolutely won't stress now that you've said so. Although, I can't seem to pick a language. I was thinking Italian, then I was excited about Algonquian, and now I'm thinking Salish. Not practical, or very easy for that matter, but looks exciting. I seem to be attracted to impractical languages... any suggestions?
And now I HAVE TO check out She and Him. I thought Zooey Deschanel was great in 500 days of summer (singing and acting). Doesn't she have such a great, distinct voice?

Sorry to have missed you at Rachel's party - which I was soooooo looking forward to - but that is the reality of my chronic migraines. Missing all the good stuff is second nature to me. That, and masking my feeling with humour. Good thing I don't do that anymore, lol. xD Hope it was fun though!
Don't stress too much about exams, I felt the same way. You just get to a point where you're like... meh. (Meh - the scientific term for I've-had-enough-and-it's-over-so-soon-and-now-I-just-want-to-lay-down-and-drink-pink-lemonade-until-i-smell-like-a-snapple-factory syndrome)
Oh, and the other day I saw this mini-series/three part movie thing called Tin Man. It's like a non-musical, fantasy/sci-fi Wizard of Oz spin-off. It's with Zooey Deschanel and Richard Dreyfus, andI though I'd mention it because you may like it. I don't know when it'll be on again, but I think it's worth keeping an eye open for. And isn't Zooey Deschanel the sister of the actress on that show Bones that you like?
What are your plans for the summer? So far I plan to agonize over my course schedule until I turn purple... then it's a blank slate.
Anyhoo... have a great day! The light at the end of you high school tunnel is closer than it may appear in rear view windows!
(Sorry, that was funnier in my head than it was out loud...)

Hooray! I keep putting off making that invitation but I swear I'll do it soon lol. Definitely :) That's too bad about the books, but especially your health; being sick really does suck :( I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! :D It just means an 85%+ average, which is good considering that the class averages for my courses were all around 70. Yeah exactly, it can be nerve-wracking waiting for exam results! Crossing my fingers for you, but I'm sure you don't need it xD

Congrats on Mount Allison! It looks really great. I'm quite jealous, really. I've always loved the idea of an east coast school with a close community. I'm sure you'll love it. :)
Actually, the physics is just light reading. I like to know a little something about everything I can, but I couldn't imagine ever actually studying it. Unless they invent a time machine. Then I'm sold.
Migraines getting worse, but what else is new? Haven't actually let on how bad they've been this year, it's not fun reading :)
Don't sweat the exams, it's all downhill from here. And the feeling of relief after your last exam is indescribable. I wish I could bottle that stuff (Liquid Relief, trademark Sam V)... I'd be a pajillionaire (That's where you can afford lots and lots of pajamas, isn't it?)
    Hope Sasquatch is fun!

LOL sorry I couldn't make Spring Fair this year, I really wanted too but it would've been too stressful with my exam in the afternoon :( oh gosh I can't believe someone would do that, that's so petty and ridiculous! Glad you had a good time though :D
Congrats on finishing APs, that must feel so good! I know what you mean, it was hard to write everything I wanted to for the Psych short answers, there's just so much information to cover. I'm sure you did well! And mine were pretty good, thanks! I just got all of my grades back recently and, while they're a bit lower than my HS grades with the marking rubric, I still made the dean's list so I'm happy :]

Haha yeah, I forgot about that! xD I'll have my birthday dinner soon so you could give it to me then. I have a lot of piano recitals to attend/play at during the next few weekends so it's been hard to settle a date... I'm thinking Friday June 4th, can you make it? I'll send out an invite soon, in any case :)

Crises mostly averted. But what's life without some drama?
I'm glad English went well. You're too good with the written word for it not to! :)
For fun? You mean aside from the bungee jumping and hard drugs? Lol
Really just a lot of reading, writing, and... Well that's when all the boring slips in. It's glamorous, I know, but someone has to live it.
For instance, I am currently reading Michio Kaku's Hyperspace. There's nothing like some theoretical physics - with a focus on multiple dimensions, time warps, and quantum mechanics - to really make you feel like a wild child.
Hope everything is great with you. What have you been up to? Keep in mind that my rock star lifestyle isn't for everyone.

Hey! Aww yeah I can imagine, it is a stressful time of year for apps and all that D: Best of luck, even though you're a great student so I'm not worried! :) And I miss you guys too; your grade 11 is the glory year in my mind too~ I'm pretty good, thanks! I feel a lot better now that classes are over and I have all my papers in, so after exams are done on May 1st, I'll be free!
Say, May 1st is Spring Fair, right? Are you volunteering or anything? I have an exam that afternoon (the worst scheduling ever, seriously), but hopefully I'll be able to drop by in the morning!

to answer ur q on Midnight's Daughter, I attempted to read it but didn't finish it this time round. That wasn't because I hated it, I just had other books higher up my reading priority (First Drop of Crimson, sigh!). Might give it another go later as it wasn't too bad. I reckon u should read like the first chapter online n see if u like it. Hope that helps :)

Everything is alright. One crisis after another, but what else is new? lol
Don't sweat English. The prov is super duper easy.
As far as books go, Sarah Addison Allen is really good. She does contemporary fiction with a slight magical twist. And The Day The Falls Stood Still was pretty good(Canadian historical fiction). And Gabriel Garcia Marquez is an author you just can't possibly go wrong with. And Eat, Pray, Love was actually pretty good too. I tried to rebel against it, but fighting it was futile. And the movie is coming out in the summer, too. And The Art of Disappearing was really a beautiful book too (the author's debut novel about a magician who doesn't need tricks - not as corny as it sounds).
Hope school is going well and that your book dry spell is over! :)
