I am a devout Christian in my mid-twenties, and I have loved reading since I was a young child. I also love photographing animals and other wildlife, but particularly reptiles and amphibians, SCUBA diving (if you couldn't tell by my picture), backpacking and camping, fishing, traveling, cooking, playing nerdy board games, hanging out with my... more »

I've read all three. They are certainly dark. I was just so captivated by Lisbeth that I didn't hardly put the first one down until I was finished with it! It is certainly a different method of storytelling, but I did rather enjoy them. I went right through the second one as well. The third was harder for me. I think that if you didn't get hooked very quickly after meeting Lisbeth, you probably wouldn't like them :) Also...sorry this took me so long to get back to you...

I started "Catcher in the Rye" but couldn't finish. Your rating reflects how I felt, but did it improve as you read? Am I missing out by not returning to finish?

Hunger games was quite awesome :) I was rather upset at the ending, but then glad to know there are more. I think I will try to get them. Either I'll have to get them as audiobooks again or wait until after I do some work on my thesis though :) Oh! I wasn't able to get your copy turned in when I was in Corvallis. Want to give me your address and I'll mail it to you? Sorry about that...

Were you and Alishia both reading Catcher in the Rye? I just finished it if you want to chat about it :)

So...I may just read that book. It seems to be taunting me a little. There is a coffee shop where I meet for Bible Study, and we usually sit on this particular couch by a shelf of books and games, and that book just keeps standing out at me...I think next time I'm there I'll pick it up and read a page or two, and then if I want to read it I'll check it out from the library. Thanks for the tip on having the internet nearby :)

I think I was 14 when I read The Stand....So I maybe missed a bunch....but I enjoyed it then. I think that the part I liked best was the way all the character's stories were woven together. I don't have time to read Animal Farm now...but I've tried to start it in the past and never been able to get very far...maybe it'll be more encouraging if I know you like it!

Also...I'd like to read I Am Legend. I haven't before.

What are you thinking of The Stand? I'm having to put Owen Meany down for a while...but maybe we can read "Their Eyes..." together!

Okay, I did start Owen Meany now. THe mother just died...I'm not at all sure what I think yet, but I'm definitely intrigued!

I haven't actually started it yet...but it is my book for break! This week is like finals week, and I have a working interview at a birth center, so it will be busy. Hopefully this coming weekend I'll actually get to start it. Though...I may just start early :) I'll be sure to let you know!

Oh, Just noticed some older posts you made....

Atlas Shrugged...don't recommend it. Apparently, it just expounds on the philosophy found in the Fountainhead...so read that first, and if you want to know more...then go to Atlas. I was able to sympathize with most of the protagonists most of the time, but the books is very atheist and I often found myself frustrated with misconceptions of God. Or the characters would discuss what they believe, and in my head I'm saying "Yes, that's what God tells us is right!", though they believed it was all just them.

I'd definitely read Animal Farm with you in 2011. Also, would love to read some of the classics. I started Augustine's "Confession" a while ago and was really loving it..but didn't have time to really dive into it then. Also, I think it's a text I'd like to own so I could mark it up, not just something from the library. Intimidating, yes, but definitely worthwhile!

Oh Les Mis! I've gotta try to pick that up again. I think I'd also like to read the whole space triology again someday. Ben Hur, huh? Any good? I'm trying to push through "Atlas Shrugged". It was really hard to get into, then I really fell in love, and now I'm really struggling to read it again! Perhaps because I began to really like the main character, and now I hate her...oh well. We need to have another book we all read together!

I don't know about reading any more of the Twilight series.... New Moon was, um, predictable? I really hated Bella even more, though I thought Jacob was a decent character. Not sure if I could suffer another one of those series.

I would like to read Owen Meany, thought now isn't really the best time, so I'll wait for your Mom to finish! Till We Have Faces is also definitely on my list. Though right now I'm starting The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard.

Nope! School has been pretty crazy, and I can't find the cable to update my IPOD, or I'd be listening to the audiobooks. I'll be sure to let you know though.

I just have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your review of the Twilight Saga. :) I am going to give them a shot too, just to see. I found out that the audio books are available for free download from the library system up here...so maybe I'll go that route.

What did you think of Ender's Game? I'm really really not liking Cathy! Though I do feel somewhat bad that she was beaten and left for dead.
