I actually love to read, but don't read enough according to no particular standard except to be consistent with the statement that I love to read. I rely heavily on the kindness of librarians - Suzanne F especially - for book suggestions.

    Dear Georgia,
Saturday's dinner guest mentioned a book, 1000 days in Venice (also in Tuscany) by Marlena DeBlasi. I thought with your love of all things Venetian you may have heard of it but if not...

If I didn't belong to a book group I'd have no idea what I've read and what I'm planning to read to a large extent. Do you still write down what you've read?
I always thought that was a really good idea.

Yep, I'm wking on it. Got a couple more to add. My obgyn's sister in law, Janimy Gordon/Lord of Misrule, just won the nat'l bk award and last nt she was at the local bkstore, Bk Passages, to give a talk sooo of course I had to go w/my neighbor Anita and of course buy the bk which I may give to a friend in LA who is turning 60 and owns/raises/races throughbred's. The question is, however, does she read? To be continued - mystery to be solved by asking Dorothy Sall.

Georgia, Did I recommend Michael Gruber's "Book of Air and Shadows" to you? It was lots of fun, and I think you might like it. You can read my review on my shelf.

Georgia, I'm impressed by McCarry's writing in "Christopher's Ghosts". I was a little put out when I first started reading it, because I thought it was a spy thriller, and the 1st part doesn't have the action I expected. I didn't give up on it because I was drawn into the characters and the horror of their situation. The 2nd part is more like a traditional spy thriller, which Christopher sneaking around East Berlin. It is a haunting book. If you liked this, you might like Alan Furst's novel "The Foreign Correspondent."

Hi, Georgia. Hannah, her cousin Pinky (who's a librarian) and I decided to join Shelfari so we can each see what the others are reading. It's addictive and fun. I feel so socially networked I can hardly stand it!
