  • The Brooklyn Follies

A great read, especially for readers who can relate to the NYC/Brooklynesque vibe.

Maybe crime fiction isn't my thing, but I thought Auster lost his way in this trilogy. I had no connection with the characters, nor did I care about their outcomes, nevertheless I read every page in the hope of finding something of value. Oh well, Read Austers TIMBUKTO or BROOKLYN FOLLIES. These are very worthy reads.

Written in the genre of Tolstoys life of a horse, Auster writes an amazing story from the dog's perspective, a very intelligent dog. If you are an animal lover this book will make you laugh and cry. A great read.

Read this garbage if you want to get in the mind of a neo nazi terrorist. I learned about this book working for Anti Defamation League. Apparantly the skinheads, nazi's, and other creeps worship this book. For that alone it is worth the read.

This is Gogol at his best. A wonderful story about a warrior. Plenty of old fashioned violence. Still pertinent and a staple in classical literature.

This posthumous work can be difficult to grapple with, but the premis supercedes the writing. No doubt anyone could be convicted of a crime you don't fully understand until it's too late. If you don't do the dance you will surely perish in the refusal...or be killed. Don't read this as your first Kafka, but nevertheless,a worthy read.

If you've read all his other books, this answers the question about what kind of absolute monster his father truly was. Definately outside of his genre with no laughter. Not dull, but void of quick whit where his talents truly lie. I still enjoyed it.

Augusten Burroughs writing may be pithy and perhaps momentary however it is through this simplicity that Burroughs examines the human condition by exposing his own life in a way that is pathetically painful, hysterically honest.

The success of this book lies in Burroughs disturbingly honest depiction of adiction. It is the factual truth in fiction that raises it to a level incomporable with nonfiction.

Diver or non diver this dude defined diving. I never thought how effective standing naked next to a fire while drinking french wine could be at staving off hypothermia. I can't wait to be underwater again.
