Hello Im Jim from Amarillo TX and I work for the BNSF Railroad as an Engineer.
I first really got into reading in High School thanks to a great english teacher Miss White, that somehow managed to sneak The Stand by Steven King by our school board members. I really dont know how she did this as they were very a conservative bunch about what... more »

Hey thanks for the books. I stopped by and picked them up this afternoon. I had three to add to 1001 books to read before I die... Hmm, only 900 and some to go! Have a great day, what's left of it. K

I hope it IS better for you. What did your neice think when you showed her Shelfari? Get her all set up and then let her go! It's a great place to come, learn about books, and talk to friends. I'm off to bed, gotta work tonight. Take care.

Wow! Guess you are online too! Everything is Illuminated finally turned into a story for me. I did have to go back and re-read some of the beginning, but I'm enjoying it now. I'm at around page 100. I would love to hear what you think as you get into it. Looking back, I must say "sorry for whining!"

Hey, I thought of a couple other books for you to read. Have you read anything by Frank McCourt? I have Angela's Ashes, I don't have the second book which is called 'Tis. He then wrote Teacher Man and I do have that, but haven't read it. The first two were awesome and true stories. He didn't start writting until he was well into his 50's! Great stuff! Let me know and I will pass them along to you. Have a great weekend!

Well, I read A Thousand Splendid Suns right after Kiterunner. It's written by the same author...awesome! I'm starting Everything is Illuminated for next months book club. We could read it together if you want. Just a suggestion.

Your welcome! Once you're done, we'll talk about what you thought. I always like to hear a man's perspective when it comes to books...only books! Just kidding. :o)

I couldn't help myself! I started The Green Mile last night. I haven't read King in years. I thought if I got one book ahead of the boy, we could talk about them as we go. Thanks for the good idea.
