I love to read more than anything in the world. Next to swimming, it's the best kind of immersion. The characters, the communities, the fantasy worlds. I'd like to find a way to integrate reading, and talking about reading, into everyday life.
I'm currently a lawyer because I enjoy playing with concepts and words, and to build stories. I'm transitioning, hopefully, to a world where the stories are dominant, and the logic less so. Me: reader, wife, stepmother, lover of water and learning. Admirer of ironic humor and journeys of all kinds. Addicted to creamy spiced root beer and garlic pizza, and my sweetiest fuzziest, furriest barkingest friend. Survivor of companions lost and battles won. Every day, I try to practice observation, introspection, challenge, and courage; and try to fail less miserably at each, every day. My biggest gift, and biggest failure, is appreciating the moment.
My goal is to read all of the great story novels. (Discuss). Favorite books include The Mists of Avalon, Pride and Prejudice, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Little Women, The Wizard of Oz, Possession, I Capture the Castle, Three Cups of Tea, and Heaven To Betsy. Favorite authors include Madeleine L'Engle, Jane Austen, Mary Stewart, L. Frank Baum, C.S. Lewis, Maud Hart Lovelace, and Laura Ingalls Wilder. The best new book(s) I've read is/are Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Books 1 and 4.
