Thanks for your support. I greatly appreciate it!

Yep, you have a good memory. I’ve moved from Quebec to Ontario a couple of years ago. I found a map that might help you locate Quebec’s tourist regions: http://www.bonjourquebec.com/qc-en/regions0.html

If you love to go shopping, then I would suggest a trip to Montréal (situated in the region of Montérégie). There’s also a lot of museums (Science Centre, Botanical Garden, Biodôme, ...) and fun activities to do: La Ronde (Québec’s largest amusement park), Bell Centre (to see a show/concert), Cirque du Soleil, Casino, etc.

I would also recommend the Outaouais region (English and French are the 2 main spoken languages there because it’s located on the border of Ontario and Quebec) there’s the Montcascades waterpark, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, etc.

If you plan on going to Quebec in the Winter and if you love skiing, then the Laurentides is definitely the place to visit (especially the Parc national du Mont-Tremblant and Saint-Sauveur).

Finally, if you prefer water activities and the ocean view in the summertime, then the regions of Charlevoix (beautiful sights), Manicouagan (Tadoussac and Grandes-Bergeronnes is where you can see belugas and whales) and Gaspésie (I hear it’s beautiful out there, and that’s where the famed Rocher Percé is located) would suit you best.

    Hope that helps! :)

I love your shelf and appreciate the fact that you review so many of your books. I am also in education, and have been my entire career. I'll definitely check back to your shelf when I am ready to choose my next read.

Based on your likes, I'd highly recommedn Murakami. I think you'd love him.

If you're ever in Santa Monica and want a tour of a great independent school...

Thanks! Well that was the problem I think; I like theory and research much more than I like practice (teaching). Oh well at least I know that now.
Um, no, my mom's actually not alright... we recently learned that she has cancer. The doctor said she has a good chance of recovery so we try to stay positive but it's not always easy.

I was born there, so of course I'm familiar with the province of Quebec. You can ask me anything you want. Where in QC would you like to go?

Wow that's cool, good for you! I wish I go could travel too. I just don't have the time right now... I quit Teacher's College (I didn't like it as much as I had hoped) so I've applied to jobs at the university, while at the same time, I'm taking care of my mom.

Quebec... do you mean the province or the city?

OMG it is!! It's sooo good. A bit creepy at times, but the suspense and the romance keep me turning the pages well into the night - yet not fast enough - haha. I'm almost done reading it and I can't wait to know how the story will unfold in the end!! I definitely recommend it!

Yes, elementary school consists of grades 1-6 in Ontario, although a lot of schools now combine middle and elementary, so grades 1-8. I’d love to do Teaching Observation in a 6th grade class in my old school, too! That would be so cool. I’m glad to know you loved your experience! :) I’ll have to do 3 days of ’’observation’’ before starting my first internship in November (for a month) and then I’ll have a second internship (for about a month and a half) next Spring. That’s all the info I have right now. I really hope they’ll allow me to do sixth grade for one of the internships! Yeah, I know all about the waiting part... after 5-6 years of university, I’ll FINALLY get the opportunity to move from theory to practice lol! Hopefully all this studying will pay off!

Btw, did you know that a new version of Jane Eyre will come out next week (August 16th)? I can’t wait to buy the DVD... I still haven’t seen it but it looks pretty good! Plus, I’m kind of curious to see Michael Fassbender taking on the role of Rochester! :)

So glad to hear from you! I wish you all the best with your studies. I know how it can be very stressful but it’ll be all worth it in the end, you’ll see!

Yes, I’ve completed my masters degree in December and I thought I’d be done with school (well unless I decide to undertake doctoral studies one day) but guess what? I’m going back to school in the Fall for a year to become a teacher. I loved my studies in education so much, I ended up wanting to teach! lol Anyway, I’m planning to read as many books as I can too before I’m once again swamped with school work.

As for Divergent, yesss!! Summit Entertainment has actually acquired the movie rights BEFORE the book was even out (http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2011/05/03/divergent-veronica-roth-interview/). And the author was only 22 when she wrote it... crazy, right?!

Hi! Long time no talk... How are you? How's school?
I've been busy lately reading mostly YA books and guess what?? I think I've finally found a book that's even better than the Hunger Games!! Can you believe it haha!? I'm telling you, it's that good (well at least I think it is... I'll have to read HG again soon to compare), it's called Divergent by Veronica Roth (first book of a planned trilogy). Anyway, I had to tell you! I think you'll like it too, since it's a dystopian novel just like the HG. :)

I def. know what you mean! Master's degree = no time to read books that aren't school related. But hang in there! It'll be so worth it in the end!
And yeah, that's a good idea; it'll also be one my resolutions! :) Talk to you again soon.

I received you question about reading T.R.R. Tolkien's "Silmarillion". The answer was either Yes Or No, but the answer is not so clear cut. The book is a collection of totally narrative tales prior to Lord of the Rings and is very long, complex and hard reading. However, if you like upper high literary fiction, you might enjoy it. If you want a flowing continuous story, then I wouldn't recommend it. LOTR is more enjoyable.

Ok, a partial list of some of my Comfort books
Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass (Carroll) – my favorite books of all time
    Jane Eyre (Bronte)
Salambo (Flaubert) – yes, it’s depressing but great if you want to be totally sucked in and not be able to think about anything else
    Emma (Austin)
Little Lord Fauntleroy/The Secret Garden/A Little Princess – pretty much anything by Burnett
    Les Miserables (Hugo)
The Oathbound (Lackey) – Yay for sisterhood and butt-kicking chicks
    Summon the Keeper (Huff)
    The Winter’s Tale (Shakespeare)
    Don Quixote (Cervantes)
Anne of Windy Poplars (Montgomery) – I like all the Anne books but this one always spoke to me
The Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas) – Sometimes reading about revenge is cathartic
And Then There Were None (Christe) – a good creepy old-school mystery
The Wasteland & other Poems (Eliot) – T.S. Eliot. Enough said
    Martian Chronicles (Bradbury)
Eight Cousins (Alcott) – actually almost any Alcott
And that's my partial list ....
    :)

Busy, but productive. I just started writing again after two months of concentrated blogging, setting up the website, twitter, facebook, ect. (Had no clue how time consuming it can all be), but I finally cranked out a few thousand words, and so I feel better :-) What about you? Did you have a good holiday?
