Hi-5! Thats what I thought oldman, you would never change your name Mark in Doha, although it seems trailing this mudfest we all change names. I like being insecure, it keeps me on my tootsies.

Hi again Mark, I wasn't getting st you , not really. I was given black pudding as a kid and enjoyed it without knowing what it was made of and having seen Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall helping to make the black puddings has not put me off , but due to heart problems it has been vetoed because of the fat and the salt in it. Shame as I really did like it on occasion. Same as I am not allowed a full English except on rare occasions. I know that lots of people eat different things. You neglected to mention Wichitee [spelling] grubs in Australia, and Aylates [spelling again] in Africa. Could you eat raw seal for instance, as ur friends up in Alaska do or did anyway. What I really do not like not is tinned spagetti. I only like De Cecco and only aldente too. Evelyn S

I appreciate your opinions as well Mark! You have become one of my favorite Shelfarians! Here in Shelfland, I've found that I learned the most from the folks with whom I don't always agree.

Aime Cesaire, fanon, Achebe, Edward Said, Homi Babha, Bell Hooks? Those are some heavy hitters. It sounds like a great read! If you run across anything exceptional please post it on my page. I like getting quotes from here, there and everywhere!

Have a great weekend my friend!

When he was there with the Iowa air guard he was constantly guarded. It was really weird. He is very straight arrow, but very liberal - at least I think that - I get that impression from my father.

Mr Nugent said that he had to wear a glow in the dark vest and be escorted to and from the latrines by armed guards. I was baffled. I think the two of you would love to talk. He speaks like 13 languages. He is insanely smart and my dad's best friend. He retired from the Air Guard a few weeks ago. He was in the Viet Nam war and was special forces in Cambodia and several other places we "were not." He teases me about speaking Russian. He says it is a top 4 hardest languages to learn. I find it funny that in Qatar we are not allowed to speak with anyone. Why? He sent stuff home to himself - rugs mostly. I wanted one I think he said they are like $50 or something obscene like that. I need a new rug for our dining room too!

Heya Mark - I have been reading it, only slowly. I do not think I could handle GitMo's conditions. I would lose it totally. Hmmm I have heard of that happening. Do you know Latin? I have found that learning Latin helps with new languages. And old ones. I read a few pages a day etc. Right now I am writing a lot - through pain. Know any publishers that are looking for vampire books.
