Robert "Rocky" J

My primary teachers would totally be amazed that I am a member of a book site. I struggled to learn how to read and they even bluntly informed my parents they didn't expect me to make it through school. Not only did I graduate from High School, went to college, have earned 3 Masters degree, I have almost completed a Doctoral... more »

ok Robert, you've been on my buddy list for 3 months now. I've scanned through your shelf and you got some pretty classic literature in there. Makes me surprise to even see some paranormal romance books in your TBR pile.

90% of my shelf is nothing but paranormal romance...it will be interesting to hear what you think about it after the list of books you 'normally' read

    Greetings CROAH member!

We are now accepting nominations for the next group read to cover the fourth US President, James Madison.

Please send your suggestions via one of 2 ways:

    a) a private note to either Regina or Dog Lover (this method reveals your email address to us), or

    b) use the "Questions About this Group" text box found on the member's tab. This sends an email to both administrators and masks your email address.

Please do NOT post your nomination to the site's discussion tab.

Please include the title, author, and brief description of the book. It would also be nice if you included the Shelfari book page URL.

Nominations will be accepted through the 18th. Nominations will be posted and voting will take place through the 25th. We will post the selected book on the 26th.

Because we are approaching the Holidays a revised schedule will be followed for the remainder of 2009 and beginning of 2010. We will vote for the Madison read in October, post discussion questions in November, skip December, vote on Monroe reads in January, and post discussion questions in February.

A suggestion has been made to continue the extended reading schedule past the Holidays and provide 2 months between book selections. We would be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on this. Would it help you? Would you lose momentum? Are you too busy to participate on the current schedule.

Please post your comments on this proposed scheduling change to the nomination thread found at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/34700/discussions/146618/James-Madison-Nominations-are-Open

The four books we've chosen since the group started have been fabulous. We look forward to seeing the nominations for the fifth.

    Thanks,

    Regina & DL

Yeah it is beautiful here and it is hard to think I would ever leave. Although I would love to see the world. I have always wanted to go to Africa! My mom always said I would be the one out of her 5 children to see the world but my bother is in the National Gurad so he beats me on that so far. But I am sure like I said when my kids grow up and out I will be on my way everywhere, hey even Texas I bet! I heard they have some awesome BBQ.

Those model trains are cool. I actually know someone who turned their basement (which was huge) into a mountain city with the train going through it. I was really impressed. I actually catch myself Sunday afternoon watching Public TV 13 and the train show. My hubby laughs at me. As for coin collecting the most I have done is the wheat pennies and my mom got into finding as many as possible. But the stamp collecting I couldn't tell you anything. I actually don't believe I have ever seen one. I will have to look into that.

So far the weekend is rainy and I just recently moved to a new place so we are cleaning out the old one. So this weekend is work, work, and more work. I hope yours is better. But while I am not working I am catching up on reading. Just a small series some friends have wanted me to read, House of Night. It's good so far. Well I hope again your weekend is going well and hope to hear from you soon.
