  • The Forest

    The Forest

    by Edward Rutherfurd
    • Rated 3 stars

This book was good and well written and makes me want to see this area of England. The style however made it hard for me to get through. He followed an area of the world and the families that lived there for generations. I would get interested in one story line and then it would come to an end and I would have to get to knowing another storyline and different characters. Personally, I found that detracted for me, but that is just me.

I have read the Dark Tower series. While meandering at Barnes and Noble the other day, I saw this in a bargain bin and picked it up. I love the Marvel adaptation and I enjoyed it so much that I just purchased the rest of the series!

  • Mister B. Gone

    by Clive Barker
    • Rated 3 stars

I have long been a fan of Clive Barker's writings and some of his movies. This was an intriguing book because of the way it is written, though I figured out pretty early on what was going on. I found the 'Secret' to not be that 'secret'. Still, it was a fun read!

  • An Instance of the Fingerpost: A Novel
    • Rated 5 stars

This book took a while for me to read, mostly because I have been so dang busy! I loved the way it is written. The perception of events shown to us through the eyes of four different authors. And as you read through the whole thing, you obtain a complete picture of the events that occured. I particularly enjoyed the first section which had a lot of medical information. It was fascinating to read the way they thought of medicine in the 1600s. And if you think politicians are corrupt now...well, they have always been so! Fascinating book!

Mr. Bryson is funny and tells some great stories. He has researched his subject well and has found interesting out of the way things to share as well as information about more well known things.

Of course, now I am terrified of all of the deadly critters in Australia...dang there are a bunch of venomous critters there!

I couldn't put this book down. It took a little while to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked. I wanted to know more about why these people had behaved the way the had and th book provided those insights, which also gave insight into basic human nature. I am going to be looking for more of Delinsky's books.

  • The Other Side

    by Diana Henstell

I didn't like this story that much. It was very dark and nothing positive resulted from the story. I don't mind things being a bit creepy and sad, but this book didn't have any lasting happiness in it and ended on an unpleasant note.

I liked this book. It took a while for me to get into. As a fantasy book, there were lots of weird names to wade through and keep straight and that always slows me down a bit.

But as I got deeper into the story and got to know the characters, I became entranced. My favorite part was the epic trek of Estravan and Ai.
