Although I have only been a member of Shelfari for a short time I have been reading for many years. I received my first book at the age of six and have been reading for pleasure ever since. My hobbies are reading, quilting and stained glass. My "photo" is actually a mosaic tabletop I built and is stained glass on clear glass.

    Gale; I am so sorry that you had to go through such a scary time but I am thankful that everything turned out well. Medical issues can be so frightening. I hope your incision heals quickly.

    Gale; It has been awhile since I've sent you a note and I'm just checking in to see if all is well with you and your family. I noticed that you had not been posting for a few days but that you are back now. It's good to see you.
    We are suffering greatly from the heat down here in Texas and it is only June! What will July and August be like? Every day we've been hitting 100 degrees and above. I shouldn't say 'suffering' I guess since we do have central air conditioning and I am perfectly content sitting in my cool house reading a book. If I could just do my library job without leaving home!

    Gale,

    I am very interested in Bunnicula. I've seen it on quite a few shelves and remember hearing about it in the recent past. I am going to add that to my "plan to read" list.

    I like Koontz a lot although I haven't read him in quite a while. I wrote a letter to him a while back and he wrote me back personally and added me to his mailing list. He seems like a very nice guy!

    I just sent you a recommendation for a book written by a friend of mine. It will be out in October and it's a really good read. After looking at many of the books on your shelf, I think you might like it.

    I'm reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, off and on, and Border Liners by Peter Hoeg. He wrote Smila's Sense of Snow, and The Quiet Girl. So far, I like it--it's exactly the kind of thing I was in the mood for.

    How about you, Gale. What are you reading? What are some of your all-time favorite books?
