I am an avid reader with varied interests. I like some sci-fi, more fantasy than sci-fi., e.g. Jacqueline Carey. I like some chick-lit, mostly British. I have some interest in the classics. Lately, my favorite authors are Tana French, Stieg Larsson and Henning Mankell and his Kurt Wallander thrillers. All their stories are character driven and... more »

Hahaha, that's pretty funny. I haven't been on here nearly as much as last year but at least I haven't gotten yelled at yet ; )

So what did you think about Boston winning the cup? I didn't really mind that much, but I kind of wanted Vancouver to win game 7. It just would have been nice to see the home team win the cup for once. (And Vancouver probably would have been able to avoid all the riots too for that matter). No, I actually haven't joined good reads yet but I think I've read a few things by members on the website.

Right now I'm reading "In the Time of the Butterflies" by Julia Alvarez, "Red Riding Hood" by I forgot the name of the author, and then I'm picking up "Chocolat" again by Joanne Harris.

Talk to you later : )

Oh yeah, I've heard about those games. Was the bat and the fog all in one game? I'm not sure. I wish I were alive to see the Sabres play back then. And I wish I actually cared about hockey and the Sabres back in 1999 so I could see them in a stanley cup final : ( Sad we're now out of the playoffs, but I think Pegula is going to make some good changes for us over the summer that'll get us closer to a cup.

What's up with all this followers/following stuff? What are we Twitter now?

Talk to you later : )

Down with the evil Amazon sign in! ; )

Goodreads? I have to check that out, I love book websites.

JC Penney isn't all that bad, it's just dealing with all the people everyday sucks every once in a while. I'm sure that I'll start really hating it as a few more months go by. My friend just started working at Wegmans, the one in West Seneca I think.

Frankenstein was pretty good, definitely one of the better books I've had to read for school. I used to love the Twilight books, but looking back on the story now, I'm not so sure what I liked so much about it. I guess it was because it was the first ever vampire book I read.

I'm not dorming at Buffalo State. It's not too bad a drive from where I live. I really wanted to go to UB, but they didn't have anything remotely close to what I want to major in (communication design/graphic design).

Hey, the Sabres won tonight : ) Now they're back in 7th place, and I really hope it stays that way.

Haha, good luck with Wuthering Heights, and thanks for telling me more about that book! I'll talk to you soon

I haven't been on Shelfari in a long time either. I just started a job at JC Penney, so I'm losing a lot of free time. It's also keeping me from reading anything other than the required reading I have for AP English class (We're reading Frankenstein right now). But hey, I'm making some money finally ; )

I think I've heard of "The Keepsake." I'm not sure if I have it on my plan to read list or not, but I'll be sure to check it out. I agree about being entertained. Nice in-depth books are good to read, but you need the more entertaining books too. Sometimes I feel that they're even the better writers because they know how to come up with really captivating stories without sounding like Stephenie Meyer or P.C. Cast.

Oooo, thanks for telling me about that bookstore on Elmwood. When I start college at Buffalo State in the fall (which is right on Elmwood!), I'll have to go and check that out. I'm kind of excited to be going to the city more often now. I know that there's a lot of galleries, restaurants, stores, etc... to visit, and I really want to check them all out.

Yeah, go Sabres! They seem to be doing a lot better than usual lately, even though they lost that SUPER IMPORTANT game against Carolina the other night. But I'm not giving up on my playoff hopes. Doesn't it seem that when they play the really good teams, they do awesome, and when they play the bad teams they just fall apart? I don't get it. I think we need to threaten them with their paychecks or something... ; )

Wuthering Heights, huh? I never hear very good things about that book. What's the Stone Cutter about? Right now I'm reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (as I said before) and I'm also reading Chocolat by Joanne Harris. It's a really good book, but I never seem to have the time to read it. I'll talk to you later!

I do still like Lindy Ruff, but who knows. In a few years maybe it will be his time to go and to look for some new leadership. But for now, I think we're alright. I just hope that a Stanley Cup will be in our future. That's all I want.

Hahaha, I know what you mean about book hoarding. I constantly buy books faster than I can actually read them. I must have a pile of about twenty plus books at home that need to be read. I actually just went out and bought a new book today ; ) Did you hear about Borders by the way? I'm really sad that they'll be going out of business, they're my favorite book store to shop at : (

Don't worry about writing too much, I do that sort of thing all the time. Thanks for the recommendations, and I'll be sure to friend you're daughter : ) I'll talk to you later!

I know, it's so great! I was really excited when I first heard about the prospect of a new owner. He's actually a Sabres fan, so maybe he'll be willing to spend some more money than Golisano would. Maybe now we'll acquire some really good players that we might not have gotten before with Golisano. I do give Golisano a lot of credit though. He had a good run, and he also saved our team from being sold. But it was definitely time for new ownership. Now if we could only get a new GM. Darcy Regier doesn't make the best choices when it comes to trading players. Grier, Connolly, hello? Why are these bums still on our team? Alright. I'll stop annoying you with my rant.
    ; )

Thanks so much for the book recommendations by the way. I always love discovering new books to read. Some book recommendations from me? Well let's see....some authors that I'm really starting to love are Neil Gaiman and Gregory Mcguire. "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by Gregory Mcguire is a favorite of mine. I'm also starting back up again on the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz. The books aren't just some young adult-paranormal series. They are quite suspenseful. A great book that I just read was The Ruins by Scott Smith. It's totally creepy and gross, but so good. And then Ted Dekker is also a great author. I really liked his book "Skin." And then I've also been reading a lot of Tennesse Williams for my AP English class. "Streetcar Named Desire" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" were really good. And then so was "The Glass Menagerie." They're all plays, but they're extremely short and dramatic. The storylines and characters can seriously get on your nerves, but his plays are definitely never dull, I promise you that. I'd recommend some Swedish fiction books to you, but the only one I've read is "Let the Right One In" by John Ajvide Lindqvist as you know. But I hope that you'll give these books a shot, because they are very good. Hope to talk to you soon!

Hi! Sorry for my late reply :( I'm fine, how are you? I've been working a lot, which feels good :) I hope you'll like "Little Star", I gave it five out of five stars on Boktipset :) Yesterday I finished "Crown Princess" by Hanne-Vibeke Holst and I loved it! You have to read it. I haven't heard about "Heat Wave" but I'm going to look it up.

Your present hasn't arrived yet and I haven't heard anything from the post office about the present I sent you :(

Take care and hope to talk to you soon! Happy reading :)

Hi Lynn! I miss talking to you too! I haven't read "Handling the Undead" but it's on my TBR-shelf ;) Lindqvist has written a novel called "Little Star" (directly translated) and I loved that book. "Handling the Undead" is "Hantering av de Odöda" in Swedish :) Manniskohamn is another great book by him. Don't remember the English title for it but I think it has been translated.

I haven't heard anything from my post office and when I last checked they were still investigating. I haven't received your package yet either, so I hope it will arrive safely and unharmed :)

At the moment I'm reading "The Black House" by Stephen King. It is really good.
    Happy reading to you too!

Hey Zoe, I am at the part with the island. It is definately getting good. I am just taking my time. I do not read it everyday and that is whats taking me so long to finish. I do like it so far. Henrik has told Blomkvist that he thinks Harriet was murdered. He wants him to try and solve murder. This is part that I am at. I love grtaphic, gory novels. Is the Bone Collecter series like that??? I have that book. If so, I am definately going to give it a try. Have u read John Sandford??? I also heard that his Prey series is graphic. Glad to hear u are doing well. What state do u live in???
