When I was younger, my mind was full of adventure and I often wove all kinds of stories. However, after trying to put the tales on paper, I got so caught up in the detail that I lost interest and ended the story within a page and a half. Then when my oldest daughter was 8 months, I had a dream that I thought would make a fascinating story. So I jotted down some notes and decided to give the whole writing thing a try. Why not? The worst that could happen was I couldn’t do it. Well, I did it! Then I tried to publish it. Of course, I received many rejections. So I wrote another story. Though better, it also got shot down. I reworked them over and over and then tried for a third story. Now, just over six years since I began writing, I will get my first book published!! It is actually the third story I wrote but that’s okay. I learned a ton just writing and doing it a little every day (usually during nap time.) Each story gets better and better. And reading helps me too. It not only motivates me but helps me find my own voice. Though my first book will be published in the spring of 2009, I have completed six stories with three more in the works. (I always have several stories going at once. In fact I have many pages of notes for stories just waiting to get their chance to make it on paper. My mind is like a whirlwind of romance and adventure just waiting to be unleashed.)
I write romance novels and am a hopeless romantic at heart! My husband claims that he’s not romantic so I have to find romance somewhere. Maybe he’s right! I’m a sucker for a good love story though! « less
