It's small and almost perfectly formed. It does hurtle through through the years in the final few pages, which is a helluva shift in pace from the previous 140-odd pages. Fills up an evening.

I read Chesil Beach last year and was rather disappointed after loving Atonement.

I enjoyed Chesil Beach. It is small, quiet, and thoughtful.

You asked about "Chesil Beach". I liked it even though it illustrates a couple's painful inability to communicate and thus consumate their marriage. It might be interesting to read so soon after "Just Do It", a book I noticed on your shelf. "Chesil Beach" would be the antithesis of the ideas in "Just Do It".
