I'm in 8th grade, and go to Indian Trails Middle School. I play sports and go to the shooting range in my free time, but, now I spend most of my time going to a *CAP (Civil Air Patrol) program. I'm also planning to go to medical school and then enlist to the army. I LOVE to read all kinds of books, and I'm a HUGE country fan!

Probably not. I sort of agree with Beth G. It is a long, dense book, and there are probably others you'd enjoy more. However, I read it when I was about 19 before taking any of the course she recommended. Although you might get more out of it with that background, I enjoyed the story for itself. The story pulled me into considering the philosophy and economics.

That being said, I'd suggest you go find it in a library and start reading. If you get hooked, check it out! Otherwise, remember the name, and come back to it in a few years.

no, not yet, Amy. It is a long dry book and you should save it until you have taken one or two philosophy courses and an economics course in university. There is *plenty* of time to read books like that.
I admire your interest, however. You might start with adding some non-fiction to your bookshelf. Even though Rand's writing is fiction, it is simply a vehicle for her to lay out her economic philosophy.
Reading non-fiction material requires a different set of comprehension tools than reading fiction does. You might talk to your science teacher or, if there is a gifted teacher-resource at your school, with him or her for recommendations.
Good luck and keep in touch.
