Hello back! Hope you are both enjoying yourselves :)
Sorry Maggie B, got my reviews confused and was thinking it was Marie who loved the Yearling. Well I can just make that question for you about Cross Creek? I loved it as it gives a rounding out to the story behind the Yearling, though she is not a moral example exactly, an enjoyable film for many reasons.
Have you ever seen the film "Cross Creek?" about the life of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings who wrote the Yearling? Ask me about it before you watch it if you do.
I have not got to read any of your shelf books yet and none of Miss Read's. :( Are Miss Read's books on your shelf? Do you have one you'd suggest to start with? I've been reading a bunch of non-fiction (blah!). I just started Denise Jackson's bio. I think you'd like it. Maybe you've already read it. :) Thanks for the note. Have a great rest of the week! :)
dear friend, you are the most welcome here and there. yours, khan.peace to all.""
OOoo hoo Maggie, there is a new #1 Ladies out: Double Comfort Safari Club. I have one on hold at my local library . . . I knew you'd like to know!
Hi Maggie,I rarely check into Shelfari so just saw your note.I am so glad you liked "Tea Time." What a great set of stories, truly.I will try a Charles Martin if I can - and try to remember to tell you what I thought!Hope your husband is recovering well.
Hi Maggie. Glad you added me. Great to meet you. I am going to have to order a few of the books on your shelf into my library. I haven't heard of a lot of the ones on your shelf and they look really good. :) Thanks bunches. I'm glad to meet another book addict. And, of course, a Charles fan. He's my all-time favourite author. I'm so very much looking forward to June and getting his newest release (A Mountain Between Us). Can't wait!
Thanks Maggie. I really like Shelfari too. Just keeping track of my books this way is wonderful. I haven't had much time to put reviews in it but maybe someday. Half of them I will have to refresh my memory because I've forgotten a lot of details in some of them. Looking forward to your posts. Have a great weekend yourself!
I loved Ramona when I was a girl. They are the frist books my mom and sister could get me to read. Then I was hooked!
Hi Maggie B - just logged in and saw your note :). Would you believe of all the classics I've read, I've not read Anne of GG or The Yearling. It is so nice to know there are still good books out there to read. I will have to check out Lynn Austin, as well.
Hi Maggie, realized had not seen you on words/quotes lately...P
Hi Maggieorry I didn't reply sooner. I've just seen your note on Shelfari. Haven't logged in for ages. Been neglecting my reading over the last couple of months. DOing more cros stitch and completing my dreaded tax return!
Do you speak German? (I wonder because of "Die Kraft der Liebe.") If so, what are the odds? I speak German, too, not fluently enough to read a novel.
Hi! Maggie! great to hear from you! Work is slow at the moment so I'm taking a minute to check my emails. The Betsy-Tacy books are wonderful books. I recommend them highly to anyone of any age. I've been reading them since I was 10. There are 12 books in the BT series and then several others about their friends. There is a society in Minnesota where Betsy lived or really Maud Hart Lovelace the author. They have saved the houses where Betsy (Maud) and Tacy lived. Maud wrote the books about her childhood. It's my goal to go there sometime! I'm reading a book now called The Little Book. It is good but strange. Have you ever read Cheaper by the Dozen or Belles on Their Toes? I have a third book I bought at a sale about the same family. It's next on my list to read. It would be fun to read a book together. Any suggestions? Well back to work. It is rainy and dreary here today. bye for now, Ann
You are welcome. I guess we both missed each others' notes! Glad you and your friend are hooked up!Our Thanksgiving was great. We spent it at home and had my mom and an uncle visit for dinner. All my children were home from work and school, so it was nice.Take care.
Maggie, i don't know how I missed your note. I apologize. When you both sent an friend invitation, you would have seen it on your "What's New" tab. And you click on the "accept" button. Since it has been awhile, check under the "What's New" tab. Look at the right side of the page where it says "Pending Requests". Your friend's invitation will still be there and you click on "accept". Hopefully by now, you have had some help. I apologize again.
