Jay C, I thought of you when I was in the library yesterday perusing the new books shelf. I serendipitoulsy found and checked out what am finding to be a fantastic book on Native Americans. It is Indian Voices: Listening to Native Americans. The author, Alison Owings, travels across American getting oral histories from various Native Americans. Look at the Amazon reviews for more info to decide whether you'd like to read it. I just started it last night and can't put it down!

Hey Jay ~ I know, I'm not happy that the group has fallen silent, but I simply haven't had the time to brainstorm ways to get it going. I ambitiously started this group during spring break, and underestimated the amount of free time I would have during the second part of the semester. My work simply has me swamped :( I've barely been able to keep up with the news, let alone discuss - I'm sorry to be letting you down.

I found myself here by mistake , or maybe not. Saw the note about rude people, I know how you feel - people were not rude to me but made me feel unwelcome for my views on a book. I seriously thought about closing my account.

Jay C - please don't let rude members like lawecon chase you away. He has been warned, and will be promptly removed if he makes another similar comment. I hope to see you back in discussion :)

We also value any relevant recommendations for our group shelf, which can be suggested under the discussion "The Shelf". Thanks for being apart of our group :)

    Hi Jay
Don't want you to be surprised so I'm letting you know I deleted your "I couldn't resist" from the recipe thread. We'd really like to keep that free of general commentary. Feel free however to resurrect the thread that does discuss food - or simply start another. I've enjoyed your edgy wit. Thanks much :-)

Dear Jay, this is like living history in the making .. I am safe thank you but the news and turmoils are immense. Despite yesterday's atrocities by the regime .. today, even more and more people are pouring towards Tahrir square in the city center to provide an extra shield against the thugs. Amazing how the road to freedom seems to be always tarnished with blood!

Thank you for your note to me Jay. I can't find your message here on the site but it was delivered to me at my email address. I wanted to answer in the right place but I can't find it. I have been here in Harrogate since 2000 (I am from London). I have lots of family living here. I hope you are enjoying your new country though not so new now I suppose! May this be a splendid year for you. I am glad to see you are back after a long while so I hope things are going OK for you.

They are all reciting the 1st page of the Quran, just open the next link and choose the word "Translation" and you'll know what they are saying:

    http://tanzil.info/
    ----------------------------------------
Basically; a person should read it himself or someone to read it to him, then wipe with his right palm; where he is hurt, of course it doesn't grow back severed limbs, but it heals things like madness or cancer, not always, it depends on the belief and righteousness of the one who's reading.

Sometimes it takes 3 days, after reading it once everyday day, sometimes it's just from the first time, sometimes nothing changes.

Sorry for it's long, hope it was useful brother.
    Take care Mukwa :)

BTW; if you want to hear more of the Quran; here is a sight where it is played randomly all the time:

And if you want to learn about what knowledge it holds that we know of so far; then here you can find it:
