Matt- thank you for answering and for your suggestions. I liked Coraline by Gaiman and the movie too. I loved The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein. I actually wrote him through his publishing company and received a response about 8 months later. he said it was on a huge pile of stuff on his desk and he finally read it and wrote a nice letter back. I think maybe getting a response from a writer may be more likely that from some other famous person. I guess because the love to write...can't stop themselves. I just read the great 2 book series by Ken Follett: Pillars of the Earth and World Without End. I give them both my highest rating. Have you read The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell? -Julie

Matt- I like your shelf- I like how you rate Song of Kali high. Dan Simmons has written some of my favorites...and he writes in different genres...which is unusual. I suggest the Terror and Carrion Comfort by him. I see The Five by McCammon is on your plan to read shelf. I want to try and nudge to that one.
