Ok...here are my words of wisdom when it comes to Shantaram....just commit to 50 pages and then decide. I liked it pretty quickly so if you don't get into it by then, just put it down.

I actually didn't care for the Potato Peel book (I keep calling it the wrong thing). Most people loved it though. Running with Scissors was good but strange. I liked it but didn't love it.

I like it so far but I love Jodi Picoult anyway-

Nanc, Did you like Plum Spooky? I hear that Janet Evanovich is very good reading. What do you think and how full is your profile for Shelfari? I have not joined any groups or added a descript about me.

I agree! Did like the "Dissident Daugher", though.

She also wrote "The Mermaid Chair". It was o.k.

The "Dissident Daughter" was very good if you are interested in the "feminine spiritual". It was non-fiction and she does supply info about researching a continuation of the same path she is on.
