I'm one of those lucky people whose parents encouraged me to read whatever and whenever I chose. I never thought about majoring in anything but English and have a B.A. and M.A. from Creighton University, and a whole lot of hours (but no dissertation) from St. Louis University. I met my husband in grad school, and we read together in St. Louis, MO.
