If you want to read The Law of Nines I do not think you need to read the whole previous series to follow any of it. Maybe read one or two of it and then you can pick it up anytime. It deals with decendants of the main characters and maybe by the next book may tie in more. Right now it just set the scene that it takes place here in Maine.

About the Lost Symbol... sometimes I think an author cashes in (Or tries to) on the success of something and really should have stopped writing. Frank Peretti wrote two phenomenal books and then his third came out really fast...too fast to have any quality. He later even apologized for writing The Prophet and said he felt pressured by his [publishers and the public to spit out a book.

I have not run into anyone who liked The Last Symbol by Dan Brown. I will probably pass on that one. I finished The Amber Room by Steve Berry and it was not the fast page turner I was expecting. The Law of Nines by Terry Goodkind is going to be a spin-off to his Wazrd's First Rule series. It will take place here and not "There" is the only difference I see. Not giving away any spoilers because the name Rahl shows up inthe first three or four pages...THAT was the giveaway.

Hubby is reading The Chasm by Alastiar reynolds in print and listening to Reliquary by Preston/child.

The Woods and A Prisoner of Birth are two titles I just loaded for my mp3....did you see Terry Brooks added a 6th to his Landover series? I gave up on Cat of Nine tales...a bit too British for me to follow I guess LOL! Is the last Wheel if Time out yet do you know?

In wheel of time...I think I read the first 4 books. I was reading Terry Goodkinds too as they were written and it got to be too much reading 2 such long epics at the same time. I decided to finish the few I missed in Terry Brooks Shannara and then start The Wheel of time over again. The Terry Goodkind series was not really holding my interest because it was too much of boy meets girl, boy loses girl...boyt finds girl again. The Wheel of Time and Shannaras have a bigger plot to them.

I am listening to Cat o Nine Tales by Archer and then I have a few on my mp3 to try.
