That is the coolest photo ever.
Okay, I am here. I already got 4 ideas of books to read from you. It is going to take me forever to load all my books.
Boy, have I seen my fair share of copies come through the library in the last several weeks.
well, i don't normally dine with authors. i met him four or five years ago when i brought in great editors from great papers to do training sessions for our editors here. i brought in jonathan landman from the new york times (who wears exquiste shoes and expensive suits and plays the cello in his spare time) and gruley from the wall st journal (who was a breath of fresh air--spiky hair, and black jeans, and LOUD, and wanted to go out drinking with the whole newsroom).if landman wrote a book i probably wouldn't invite him to dinner. too scary. but gruley is just a hockey-playing news guy. so it'll be fun to see him again.
i just finished reading "starvation lake" by bryan gruley and i think you would love it. it's a murder mystery set in michigan, the story of a washed up newspaper man/hockey player written by a pulitzer prize-winner for the wall street journal. his first novel, and very very well written.doug and i are having dinner with him next month when he comes through minnesota on a book signing.i know you've liked john sandford's books---this isn't gory in the least, just really well written and a gripping plot.
Well for now they're both still under the "plan to read" category. We'll see if they actually make it through the next two rounds.
Hello Mr. Strenski! I hope you are doing well in this new year. I am still very much looking forward to meeting you sometime in 2009! If you have any good recommendations, be sure to let Chris and I know. For now, take care!
