I have decided to use this site as a record of my reading from now forward rather than a history of my reading--I'm also on GoodReads and have invested plenty of time on that history there (and I'm not nearly computer savy enough to figure out how to transfer from one site to another, lol).

I am a bookseller for Tattered Cover... more »

Just read your 2008 review of Kresley Cole's "A Hunger Like No Other". Writing to say thank-you. I was reading all these glowing reviews about how much everyone love this book and wondered if i was the only one who saw, and was bothered by, the kidnap/rape/molestation/dominance theme. Wanted to say thanks for letting em know that I'm not entirely crazy. o_O

Are you in the book trade? You always seem to review the best books before they're available in Canada. Keep up the great work - it gives me all kinds of reading ideas. PS - in your photo are you skiing or snowshoeing?

Jackie, I have appreciated your reviews and insights. I too use this sight as a research mechanism and a personal log of what I've read.

How did you get a copy of the Alice book? I work at a bookstore and I can't get it until next year. I am very jealous.

Hi Jackie - I am also a bookseller but at a not so famous independent bookshop in New Hampshire - one of my things in my bucket is to travel to the Tattered Cover and "vacation" in your store! I'm trying to be a regular poster to Shelfari, but I'm a
"tech-no-head" also, so sometimes just read everything without adding comments - not helpful I know...
am reading Anita Diament now, her best since Red Tent I think a great suggestion for folks who like Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian.

I got to your shelves via your review of Little Bee and a need to explore some of the site changes. A friend and I had one of our frequent book lunches today...and I immediately went book hunting for that and Cutting for Stone based on her recommendations. What is truly strange is that for the four books we have in common, they are significant and very diverse.

Not long ago I finished The Mercy Papers and attended a reading by Robin (who is the best friend of the daughter of the woman with whom I had lunch...how's that for a convoluted sentence?!?). Since this was such an emotional book for me (I live in Eugene, Oregon and knew Jackie), and you gave it a good rating I was intrigued. Another common book, Walter, the Farting Dog. Odd matches I think.

During the 60s I lived in Denver for three years...my ex was at the Air Base (I am getting forgetful b/c I do not remember the name of place). I never visited The Tattered Cover if it was in business then, but I would love to now. I would kill for your job. My dream has and still is to spend hours in a bookstore, sharing my passion for reading. We do not have many independent booksellers left in Eugene. And the few that exist have both new and used. I have seen at least six slaughtered by the big nationals (which I freely admit I now use in part). Tell me more about it. Does it have a newsletter...etc. I am a fan of "The King's English" in Salt Lake City. We, of course, have Powell's, once again a mix of new and used, which is a deadly place to visit (books are like potato chips...).

Enough for now. I have enjoyed visiting your shelf and have noted a number of books that I will look at further. I appreciate your consistent reviews instead of just stars. Happy reading.
