I love books - not all books... mostly just the good ones; that is to say, the ones that I deem to be good. Ahem.
I love movies (ditto the above).

It's said that there's a finite number of books you can fit into your life. This concerns me. I've read a lot of not-so-great books. What if I've used up the reading-slots of really great... more »

Thanks for the friendship invite, and you are defineitly not to strange. Your funny and cool. I will have to look up The Broken Teaglass is sounds interesting. I am not a Kindlephile, I don't understand the appeal of reading a book on a little machine, I need to be abel to hold my book. I hope they never phase out real books, that would be a great loss. I don't mind the long notes, and no need to go run away and pretend your normal :) I readily admit that I am not!

So what are you reading next? I am in the middle of Mercedes Lackey's Gwenhwyfar, based on the Kig Arthur Legend. I loven reading variations of Arthur, and so far, this one is one of the best I have read. It's based around an obscure Celtic legend about Guinevere.

    Hey,
Happy Chinese New Year to you too! I think "meh" is probably all it deserves. I skimmed in some places too, I have to admit I sometimes, although rarely do it when there are parts that are slow, or parts that are icky in books I otherwise like. I'm glad your figurines are all still standing, and I know what you mean, no matter how you might want to, you just can't damage even really horrible books. Although, I have found at least threatening to run them over with my car helps sometimes. :) As for my profile pic, I do read some Star Wars Comics, and I really love the artist. he did that particular picture for a Star Wars novel, actually he did the covers for the whole New Jedi Order series of novels, that just happens to be one of my favorite pieces of his. I don't ususally read comics, and I'm not into Japanese stuff much, I just loved the art. Sorry, rambling!

    Hi,
It's been awahile, I wanted to see how you were doing. Did you finish Deliverance Dane? Are all of the knick knacks in your house still intacted? Hope you are having a good year so far. In answer to your question, my profile pic is actually from the Japanese cover of a Star Wars book. This wonderful artist in Japan designs the covers for their Star Wars books and this is one of my favorites from his work.

Hi roo ( Happy New Year to you too)
Yes, I think mentally counts. I know what you mean by struggling with it. It's ok about the books-recieved-as-gifts-and-feel-obligated-to-read I've been there. I tend to always ask for books as gifts, and sometimes I get books I didn't ask for, but feel obligated to try anyway since the person spent money on me. You get to a point in the book where you wonder why you are reading it, then you turn the page and something happens that makes you remember why you got interested in the first place. I still think the ending was hokey, tell me what you think when you get there. I know what you mean about the library (they are dangerous places). And everything does look shiny because all the books have those plastic covers on them that reflect light, then you are compelled to pile them all in your car and take them home!
I don't mind if the notes are a little long, mine can be too (see above)

So, have you thrown any books across the room lately?

    Hey!
Well, the end of the prologue is a good start! Right? I have a theory that if you don't like a book after 50 pages then abandon it, but the cover theory makes some of my descisions too. You might want to at least reduce the number of figurines on you list, or put them in a room where you don't do a lot of reading so you won't be tempted to hurl the book in their direction.

Hi. Just wondering if you read Deliverance Dan yet and what you thought? Was I too harsh?

I know what you mean about the Twilight series. I'm way past the young adult books but I'm really happy that I read Twilight. I thought it was a fast paced, easy read. I enjoyed the movie as well and am looking forward to New Moon.

I will have to check out The Host....bummer when it takes so long for the book to get going though.

Hi. You are very welcome. Yes, the majority of the book was really good. I just thought the ending was somewhat stupid and didn't really seem to fit. It did make me want to take drastic violent action. I think the only thing that saved it was it was a Library book. But, as you say, your lack of Ming vases should make it safe. I hope you enjoy it.
