According to my mother, I learned how to read on my own, with the TV ... maybe that showed how much I would come to love to read ^_^
Unfortunately, I lived in a small village with only a school library opened only one day a week ... I managed to read some books but there wasn't anything really interesting.
My father used to think... more »

How are you doing these days? Now that you've had a chance to live with it for a while, do you like your Nook? Recommend? Best wishes,

That's lousy! Amazon may have a Kindle ap for the Nook, but regardless, I suspect the same eBook restrictions would apply. If you haven't thrown in the towel yet, you might try the library. I'm not sure how extensively they carry U.S. books in Japan, but there is a Japanese translation, I know, I've got a copy on my shelf. So very good of you to try, Chris.

You'll have to tell me how you like the Nook. I've been wavering over Ipad, Nook and Kindle, unable to decide. And so good of you to read my book. You'll have to give me your thoughts on both.

That is so sweet of you, I wished I'd gotten your email before I went to bed, I would have saved you a trip to the bookstore. "The Last Day" came out some years ago and is pretty much unavailable new, except for ebook versions. But used copies are common online at Amazon, Ebay, Barnes & Noble, etc.--and even better, for free at most libraries (at least here in U.S.). I hate to see you spend money, you might call your local library and see if they have it. I suspect at least the Japanese version would be available, but you're right, reading it in the language it was written in, English, would be better. By the way, do you have a shorter name you go by? Can I call you "Kuri?" Best regards,

Your language skills are amazing, I envy you. Yes, I'm a writer. Spiritual suspense thrillers. "The Last Day," (Warner Books--available used on Amazon in English, Japanese, Spanish, Italian & Portuguese, whichever you prefer), and next novel, "The Knowledge of Good & Evil" (Macmillan/Tor/Forge) due out Feb. 2011. But please don't feel obligated, I simply enjoy the friendship here. All the best,

Glad to hear about your father. All the same, you should consider coming to the U.S. and working in a library--think of all the books at your disposal!

    HI kurisutofu,
Welcome to Play Book Tag (pbt) group. Every month we pick a tag to read books from then share our reviews with each other. This month's tag is Inspirational. So we find books under that tag here on Shelfari and read them. I have read "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis. I may read some of my Chicken Soup for the Soul books too. We have a Faq's thread that answers a ton of questions. If you need to ask a question please feel free to ask me or any other veteran member of our group. Everyone is really helpful and friendly. We love to hear from our new members in group so don't be shy. =)~
