I read Eragon pretty quickly, and to sludge through Eldest, but I could hardly put this one down. I think it is an excellent story. My only gripe would be that sometime the writing tends to get in the way of the story telling. The last half of the book was definitely hard to put down. I'm looking forward to the last book.... again. (If you didn't know, this was supposed to be the last book, but Paolini decided to break it up into two, so now it is a trilogy plus one.)

I wasn't really impressed. The story line and plot were mediocre. If you're interested in the Knights Templar, this book only barely touches on the actions during the 13th century. I was hoping that this novel would be similar to The Jester by James Patterson and give us a fictional life during the time of the Crusades, but that was not the case. Most of this story takes place in the present time. Similar to the Da Vinci Code, but based more on archaeology instead of art history.

Excellent account of Operation Market Garden. Points out the things that went as planned and the things that were not working, although there is not account as to why communications were so horrible. Definitely a must read for people interested in World War II.
