Hi Shelfari community,

This is the place for me. Ever since I was a little girl I have enjoyed reading. With fond memories I remember my first library card, visits to the local library, the bookmobile and church rummage sales with books on sale.

Now that my children are grown and married, I have more time to read. My cat and... more »

I honestly didn't much care for Edgar Sawtwlle, though I cannot say you shouldn't read it. It was just too tragic for me.

We do seem to like the same books, don't we? I haven't read anything by Neil Gaiman, but he sure gets good reviews.

Hello Grapes...now you can chose the lady in yellow for you. Sandra D is the lady in blue ...Carolyn H is the lady in pink and I am the lady in purple. I love black art and I have so much of it in my home and on my computer. I love sharing it. This piece is called Tribute. I am in Georgia darling....the weather here is so unpredictable it has been 70 degrees this week.

It's good to hear from you Grapes, and to hear that you're well and reading.

If you're looking for a recommendation, try Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I kept reading good reviews of it on Play Book Tag and decided to try it. I love the author's writing style, she has a dry wit, and the story itself is like a fairy tale for grown-ups.

    What have you been reading?

Thanks Grapes. It's great to hear from you. You're reading some good mysteries. I've read all of Sue Grafton's -- T was the very best -- but I've only read a few of Lisa Scottoline's. I like her though and I was thinking just the other day that I needed to look up the order of publication for hers since several have the same characters. I just now finished a review copy of The Sweet By and By, by Todd Johnson. It's a really good southern novel.

Thanks Grapes. I've been reading like crazy for the last 6 weeks or so since I haven't felt like doing anything else. That and the game at PBT explains why my shelf looks even more eclectic than usual. I hope you've been well.

Yes, I do love mysteries. Have you read Sue Grafton or Lisa Scottoline? They are probably my favorite contemporary mystery writers. I also like some of Ruth Rendell's, but she's a little hit or miss.

Hi Grapes. Thanks for the note. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and will have a great 2009. I've been under the weather for the past several weeks and haven't felt like getting on my computer much. Mysteries are one of my favorite genres and I read several recently myself, including encore reads of Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayres. It's unfortunate that we just don't have writers like those two any more.
